  • Hard News: Paul Reynolds: A Contribution,

    I don't think I've ever met anyone with quite so many ideas as Paul had. I remember meeting him for a coffee a few years back when we first started doing PR for Google and feeling like the slowest person in the room - I literally couldn't keep up with his amazing train of thought. What he was talking about then was - still is - light years ahead of its time.

    I've been similarly awestruck every time I've seen him since, not least last week at the Social Media Junction where he was without a doubt the most interesting speaker of the day.

    The world will definitely be a less interesting place without Paul around.

  • Speaker: Re-Entry III: The Eagle has Landed,

    I'm still depressed and I've been back for more than three years. (I meant to head back after one, but got stuck.) Luckily now the grim state of the UK recession makes it all a little easier to bear...

  • Hard News: The Big Day Out, Auckland, 2009,

    All I can say is: LILYWORLD. Miles Cleret, Hot Afro A Go-Go, the mighty, mighty Son Of Dave... A little bit of Glastonbury/Bestival in Aucklalofa. We could have stayed there all day were it not for the fact Mikey Havoc had been inexplicably scheduled on later in the evening.

    Ooh, and Tiki Taane in the Boiler Room was just awesome, especially for my best mate back from Barcelona after many years away - what a homecoming.

    (And what was with the Cyndi Lauper? We heard it too on our stagger back to the car - most unexpected!)

  • Island Life: We have ways of making you torque,

    How spooky Mr Slack - here I was enjoying a random play of the 22-min version of the 'Werk's finest that popped up on shuffle today on my iPod for the first time in forever - and then I spot your post. Uncanny.....

    BTW for a superb live performance DVD, make Kraftwerk's Minimum Maximum top of your shopping / Xmas list.

  • Hard News: Beijing: Ignoring it is not…,

    Ignoring Beijing is not an option. Luckily for us, the Herald have enlisted an insightful and objective 'voice of Beijing' to bring us the real oil...

    "I'm so excited, I'd like to tell everyone who is still doubtful of the Beijing Olympics that Beijing is much greater than you imagined you've heard, and even you saw in some irresponsible media."

    Wicked.

  • Hard News: Misconnection,

    If someone from Vodafone is reading this, can they please tell me how on earth I can change my contact email address (I'm getting a bit sick of my former employers getting my phone bills, as are they of getting them) without:

    a) using the website (which refuses to update my new details, no matter how many times I enter and so-called save them);
    b) calling the customer helpline (which would only work if someone picked up the phone in less than 45 minutes);
    c) sending a shitty fax and letter (which would only work if someone read and/or responded to them)

    Anyone? Brislen?? ;)

  • Hard News: Radio Times,

    Why thank you Steve Barnes, I shall test your remedy tonight and with any luck, the world of Morning Report (and Wammo in the mornings on Kiwi) will be mine again.

    Ah, Public Address System - is there anything it can't do?

  • Hard News: Radio Times,

    While a devoted fan of Morning Report (when I get to listen to it, that is, since my car radio decided to give up playing even-numbered frequencies - go figure), I have to give a not-at-all-biased plug for the good folk at Kiwi FM, who routinely get some of the most informative and entertaining interviews around, as well as a host of super weekly guests, including a few chaps well-known around these parts.

    It's not just Kiwi music, you know. And it comes in podcast form as well...
