  • Hard News: Music: Watching on Twitter…,

Agreed about these awards - they did feel faintly embarrassing but then maybe I was not the target audience. I liked.Tiny Ruins and the opera guys were odd but that was about.it. The crowd seemed so muted and uninterested. Or.too.cool.to.get excited?. The.presenters seemed to have no real connection.with the.crowd.and.felt.flat.and.desperate. Maybe.it.was.more thrilling.if you were.there. Didn't do much.for me beyond feeling sorry for the.musicians.trying.to.be.amazed and gracious.against the.tide.of glitzy blah.

  • Hard News: The sole party of government,

Why him over Grant Robertson - I saw him discussing Jude Collins resigning on tv and he was mighty impressive. He seemed commanding without being smug and self satisfied.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Lovable Munter,

Video made by my friends teenage boy so tomato sauce is authentic and surprisingly articulate.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Lovable Munter,

Demented but true, second time posted somewhere else, might be better here or maybe nowhere.

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

Yep. I think left after two gigs - would have liked to have heard some of those first few practices.

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

This may be a little demented, but maybe this might be the Ballad Of John Key.

So many ballads out there - he is clearly an inspiration for many.

  • Hard News: Privacy and the Public Interest,

I have had similar discussions - to the point where I won't bother now. The justifications for many are all headlines, strutting parroted lines and no actual coherent evidence based reasoning.

  • Hard News: Show some decency, in reply to Julie Fairey,

Yep. Agree completely with this post. It is so maddening how it seems a significant number of our country men and women seem to have completely ignored the fact that our country is run by gangster politicians or perhaps they just don't care. What does this imply about who we are as a people? - what kind of people are we when it appears that apparently this kind of reprehensible and possibly (probably??)- criminal behaviour is condoned? I am having to walk away now from most conversations around the work room cos it just makes me too mad. I know I shouldn't but I also find myself losing respect for anyone defending these morally bankrupt a$$%%&...... I guess this post is proof of why I should avoid discussing this election with anyone.

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

It seems very hard to believe that this inquiry will be able to operate in a climate of political neutrality. The consequences for Nationals fortunes are so clearly wrapped up in the result. It will surely be seen - rightly or wrongly - as a veracity test for the whole book. I think an inquiry should definitely happen but very concerned about how it will proceed, and under what conditions.

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

If the just announced SIS inquiry somehow exonerates all concerned just before the election -that would be a fine thing for Key and co. , no? Is there any suspicion that the information that got Mrs Collins sacked will be also disproved, and then, in combination with the SIS thing just before the election, the National party will be able to claim proof of conspiracy and march on triumphant. I want the whole lot looked into not just these two claims.
