Germaine Greer is onto something there, Deep Red. No matter how embarrassing any of the NZ media's most popular stories, they still beat by a country mile the constant dross that makes Oz's Top Reads.
Just look at the most popular reads at the bottom of this page:
World Cup Oval plan unveiled
"I am ashamed"
Rain finally on the way
Hulk Hogan's affair exposed
Prince Frederik's mystery woman
Scientology too quick for Aussie coroner -
Bisexual role models have certainly come a long way from Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and Billy Chenowith, the slightly psycho artist in Six Feet Under.

Cheers for the list of banned books, Emma. Hilarious stuff. I never knew quite how much hatred has been aimed at marijuana. There's a lot of affirmation of bans that show the same stupidity repeats itself.
And books of limericks! I'd like to see the SST tackle that one. Zero Tolerance on Rhyme!

If you look at the ever decreasing water table in India, where farmers are boring ever deeper to find scarce irrigation sources, access to water IS a climate change issue.

It's worth noting that former Business Roundtable speaker at the Sir Ron Trotter Lecture in 2002 has this week changed his stance on climate change. Take that, Muriel Newman!
Thanks for that taster on The Ascent of Man, Graeme. Will look it up. You can't find a decent documentary anywhere on telly these days.

Once flatted with a fetishist. There are times it's good to be deaf, what with trying to read while some chick tied to a bed is waiting eight hours to climax next door.
The mindsets of BDSM fascinate me. The master is the servant is the master...
