The "Fuck John Key" chant actually comes from Home Brew/@Peace, who were getting crowds to join in with it two years ago. Dotcom doesn't appear to have instigated it and, no, I'm not going to have a fainting fit about the kind of thing that's happened on a hundred protest marches.

Not a meeting. That's from the Party Party, in the midst of a whole lot of noisy drum 'n' bass and hip hop. People are going to get excited and noisy,
My only problem with those parties is that they were originally pitched as general get-out-the-vote events, but wound up very much as Internet Party campaign things.

Businesswoman, longtime (lifelong?) resident, also running the Christmas Parade this year. I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt.
And I can now see why the link to the meeting notice vanished. It had her mobile number on it and she she consequently got a call from Penny Bright, which no one should have to endure. See Bright’s lengthy, ridiculous comment on Kiwiblog.

so while the outline of this meeting seems odd… the candidates might actually say something of value to those attending and actually answer the questions posed to them
Yes, I'm trying not to discount the benefits. But i think you can have a useful meeting without forbidding the candidates from even mentioning each other's names, and without threatening voters with expulsion from the room if they cross a poorly-defined line of decorum.

Act board member and Dunedin North candidate Guy McCallum has resigned in what looks like disgust with Whyte:
“In fact, I didn’t know the Hamilton speech was coming,” claims McCallum. “Jamie was in Dunedin for a small gathering of ACT supporters on the morning of 20 July, and he mentioned to me that he was in search of a ‘stunt … because you know, the polls.’ A week later ACT rolled out a controversial and obviously unprepared race relations policy.”
This claim contextualises issues raised by journalist Toby Manhire, who wrote Whyte “suggested that small parties' struggle to get media attention very often saw them gravitate towards the fruity, shouty excesses.”
Furthermore, McCallum claimed Whyte’s call for Dame Susan Devoy’s resignation was “the final straw … People criticising Jamie for One Country, One Law have only been met with derision; either they haven’t read his speeches, have ulterior political motives, or are, by him, wrong.”
