There is. I'm starting to wonder if there might be something on a Flying Nun scale going on. There's a sense of cohesion about that whole list.
The common point is direct access to the means of production -- which in the early Nun days meant forsaking studios for halls and lounges and four-track tape recorders.
The difference now is a far higher degree of competence in the basic business of music. And a freakin' big star to make the world watch.

And I do like to see a Roland JC120 in its native habitat. You guys must have been popular with the neighbours. Those things are loud.
Oddly enough, while I’ve lived in flats where the band would plague the neighbours, I don’t think that was one of them.
Although, I confess, we did sometimes behave quite badly as a household. In the happiest of ways.

Think RB knows how he meant the question to be interpreted.
Think WOCS answered how he believes that taking money to spread someone else’s words that he just happens to agree with is fine.Yeah, that’s what he said and I thought the context was clear, and Slater’s subsequent statements made it clearer. I could have been a bit more gracious and acknowledged Graeme’s rather different interpretation of the original interview.
PS: I should note that Slater in a subsequent interview with David Fisher admitted to demanding money, but said he’d never received any. Which is a bit sad. But we have to go with that. I’m just in no doubt what kind of work he was demanding money for.
