I think that's what the Herald has done.
I would have preferred to go without the shouty front pages and yesterday's censurious editorial, but the Herald, and Jared Savage in particular, have nailed this story. They've shown us what really happened.

Did you know Dave Dobbyn is the headliner at the upcoming Parachute? It oddly appeals to me!
I like that artists who have established a reputation in the real world (Elemenop, Great North) play Parachute. Kids get to hear better music that way.
And I gather they're a useful presence in the discussion forum parts of the festival. I'm told of an occasion when Dave from Elemenop really put some bigoted young believers in their place.

Side issue here, but what’s the deal, APRA or Apra? APRA and I are the former and you and Russell Baillie the latter.
The Listener stylebook (and very probably the Herald's) says that if the acronym is commonly pronounced as a word, it has the initial capital only, It can take a while for that status to be established: note the transition from AIDS to Aids, the ACT party to Act.

although Russell and I were getting misty eyed about the one at the Powerstation circa 1990/91 where they decided not to feed us until AFTER the ceremony. At least two winners had to be helped to the podium.
I'm not sure if "misty-eyed" is quite the right phrase. More "crying with laughter".
A special moment on that evening was Greg Johnson beginning his acceptance speech with the words "Fuck I'm pissed!"

Not just that. He speaks of his Saviour as someone you wouldn't mind meeting. I often think that if all Christians were like Dave, it would be a different, and better, world.
And as you seem to know he upbringing its hardly a stretch to figure out why he became a born again.
His brother is a priest/ missionary. Upbringing affects a lot.Oh, of course. But he went the long way there :-)

One of the first comments I read that she had said was that she didn’t find him that attractive except that his power was to her. I guess that would have spiked interest from the start.
We don't really know the context in which she said, how strongly she felt it, whether it was offhand, in response to a question, or what.Given the striking difference between her reported words on Whaleoil and in the Herald, I'd say it was largely there to heap as much humiliation as possible on Brown.
I think that's actually been a tactical error on Slater and Cook's part. What was published was so vile, intrusive and humiliating that it went way, way beyond anything relevant to arguing a breach of duty on Brown's part. Indeed, the only things that raise real questions about his professional conduct -- the reference and the free hotel rooms -- have come in the Herald's follow-up reporting. They were too vile for their own good, basically.
The images that the News channels have put forward are promiscuous to those who are of the “thou shalt not commit adultery” camp and therefore the concentration again peaks, the fact that she was naked in a public place/council building also peaks interest although I bet she’s not the first person to do so. It is because she has started the ball rolling.
She is not the first, I can tell you that.

So we take John Slater at his word, and he’s running a campaign in which all this went down without his knowledge.
Tomorrow morning's Herald may shed considerable light on this issue, if not with respect to Slater Snr, then certainly wrt John Palino.
It was unnecessary for Rudman to imply that Whaleoil's behaviour is his father's responsibility -- it clearly is not -- but I don't think it's at all unfair to consider John Slater's role as the manager of a campaign that is starting to look like it was knee-deep in this whole business.
