And so … Assange turns on Greenwald for “cashing in” with a planned Snowden book/movie. Greenwald has now been unfollowed by Wikileaks on Twitter.
Snowden himself now seems to be in the care of Wikileaks’ Sarah Harrison, who is acting as his legal advisor. There was a slightly odd press event in Moscow yesterday, in which four other whistleblowers presented Snowden with an award. Nothing actually wrong with that, but it’s unfortunate that one of the four was Ray McGovern, who’s not a whistleblower so much as a 9/11 Truther.

With all the armchair relitigators (self included), I suspect they will have a hard time finding members for a jury that haven’t already spent time speculating, or been exposed to theories, on this case…
I honestly have no idea what the truth of it is. But I do think about what a pain it would be to be drafted into that jury.

I decided I didn’t actually like that ‘Yeke Yeke’ edit – it kind of flattens out the remix – so I decided I’d try and buy the original remix digitally, ideally as a WAV file. I could not do that. Juno actually had it on a compilation, but that was denied to me in NZ “due to copyright restrictions”.
So I had to export one from a YouTube clip. There’s a big fat WAV file of it here, on principle.

don’t forget this was only 3 years after the ’81 tour, lots of people had recently faced down the police in the streets (and vice versa)
I think the hangover of the tour, its symbols and the way it fed into police practice and public perceptions all contributed, for sure.

Oh the memories! We left the gig before the trouble started, but back home my flatmate's boyfriend (a young cop) was watching the riot on TV, furious he was missing the chance to "break some heads." The memory of him grumping about missing the fun is the best explanation of that riot I've got.

Ah! It puzzled me -- but maybe that's it. Although Straw Dogs was quite controversial around that time.
