Also, I think the Cunliffe result was pretty predictable. Certainly most pundits were predicting it. But the catamaran race – that was breath-taking. So “yes” the news bulletins got it right, I think.
And then, after I wrote that, race 2 this morning. Ye gods.

It's been pointed out to me that I was wrong to say that Adam Holt saved the local Universal branch by signing Hayley Westenra. George Ash actually signed her and her debut album was number one in NZ when Adam took the top job.
But what Adam did do was broker the international deal with Decca in the UK, apparently judging that it would be a better move to take a smaller cut of a much bigger success, which is how it worked out. That does seem relevant to the current situation.

Whole column is as tacky it gets. You’d think after 40 years memories of Sarah could be left to those who knew her instead of this lame tabloid trash getting dragged up again.
You know, I’ve been watching the busy Facebook discussions among people who, like David, knew her. And not one person has expressed this sentiment. I’m sorry if you were her friend and you thought anything I said was flippant, but the idea that she should be left out of the story doesn’t seem to be widely shared.

Grant has friends who have an autistic child, and he has helped numerous constituents in their battles to get disability support in schools and in the community, so I think he knows the issues pretty well (as should any good constituency MP as disability issues and problems are widespread).
This is my impression too. He's also prepared to get involved and advocate.

When I was out last night, two people came up to me and offered unsolicited thanks for responding to Sweetman. I was starting to feel sorry for him having half the internet down on him. Then someone else directed me to this effort in 2011:

Then further down:
Toploader, Maroon 5, The New Radicals, Jewel, Paula Cole, all awful, all ghastly, all obvious, hummable, singalong dross; half an idea stretched out ad nauseam. All listened to by women rather than men – in most cases.
And then there’s John Mayer – he exists only because of women and their appalling taste in music. The guys who like John Mayer only like him because they know girls who like him, or want to know girls who like him.
What’s the appeal of wanting to get to know a John Mayer fan then? Well, it’s a given they’ve got terrible taste so even life’s lowest male form could be in with a chance.
I say all of this but of course I know some women who listen to Iron Maiden and AC/DC and some who are aware of Brian Blade and Wayne Shorter. Just as, presumably, there are some men who listen to Coldplay. Possibly even some straight ones.
Jesus, what a fuckwit. It has in common with his Lorde and MC Tali vomits the presence of a weird and unwelcome sexualisation of women he disapproves of. (He's also not on the safest ground to be dissing anyone else for having “half an idea stretched out ad nauseum”.)

To me, it seems more likely that Lorde would have that sort of career rather than churning out album after album like Rihanna (seven platinum albums in eight years!).
