Henry had been called in by Key to investigate an unauthorised leak to Vance of a report on the Government Communications Security Bureau.
It has previously been confirmed that Henry was provided with electronic records tracking Vance's movements in the parliamentary complex.
Carter said today he became aware on Friday his answer in response to questions about Vance's phone records was wrong.
Three months of phone records had "inadvertently" been supplied to Henry by Parliamentary Service during the course of his investigations. The information had been collated by parliamentary contractors Datacom.
Henry immediately returned the records without viewing them and made it clear he had neither sought nor wanted them, Carter said.
"I stress that the David Henry inquiry never requested this information and recorded that fact immediately the information was received. I am further advised that this information was not used by the inquiry."
Carter confirmed, however, that Henry had sought phone records detailing which government ministers had phoned Vance.
So the new story is that Henry only requested details of ministers' calls to Vance, but instead somehow, by accident, got details all Vance's calls.
Carter quoted in the Herald:
"I have been made aware that the phone records of a press gallery journalist were released by a Parliamentary Service contractor to the David Henry inquiry."
Possibly throwing Datacom under the bus here?

Good point; I’ve amended the post. Although even there, there are some fairly unusual royalty agreements keeping the thing on air. It's basically a placeholder.

I can tell you you're being harvested daily by a state agency.
On the upside, that agency is the National Library. So that's cool.
But the rise of what Kim Dotcom calls "Prism Google" -- the rise of the database search where you type one piece of information and get everything on your person of interest -- is alarming. Nothing can be regarded as secure any more.

While her card is declined at Subway, and she’s used to sell us chicken. Sure I sneer at that system, at her handlers, at that marketing team. I sneer as I eat the chicken she is being exploited to sell me. My respect for that is absolutely zero.
You need to get over this.
Firstly, what is this chicken she's being "exploited" to sell you? I'm not aware she's done any ad campaigns.
Secondly, the interesting thing about her marketing so far is that there virtually hasn't been any. All Universal has done is say "no" to things like radio station appearances. I think it's been handled wisely and well to this point.

A 70’s era very wide but shallow casserole which is perfect for very long, slow cooking. It’s so big I rarely get to use it.
That's nice. It's the same shallow profile as my fancy-ass Tramontina. It's a shape that works rather well.

Hey, last night I listened to and purchased a copy of Evolver, Matthew Bannister’s cover album of the Beatles’ Revolver.
It was recorded by Ed Cake in Auckland and Hamilton, and it’s remarkable. I’ll have something about it in next week’s music post.
