For motorists in the short term, but not for the beautiful Oakley Creek Walkway and waterfall.
Are you sure? As far as I can tell, the tunnel will go under the creek and waterfall. The creek will be subject to temporary diversion at the southern end, but the part where the walkway is remains. And will, presumably, be cleaned up a bit.

Enabling people to buy houses the other side of Albany and drive to wherever they are working, causing traffic levels to increase again until we’re back to stopped.
No so much, really. They're already doing that. But it should ease the impact of showstopping congestion or crashes on SH1, by providing an alternative route. And hopefully, it'll mean much of the traffic that chokes Carrington Road near us going direct to the motorway. Motorways that don't quite connect can be pretty irksome for the people in the middle.

He seems to have been right about the slippery slope of civil unions leading to same-sex marriage, however.
With the proviso that his real warning was “civil unions might cause you to change your mind about same-sex marriage”.
The current bill wouldn’t have been politically viable if there hadn’t been a measurable public swing in behind same-sex marriage.

Minor point… Swartz was a co-owner of Reddit – it was co-founded by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian. They merged with Infogami, Swartz company a year or so later. Not to diminish his role or deeds before or after Reddit and I’m sure to most it seems like a pedantic point.
I did consider that, but ended up deciding that other people (eg: Wired) had considered it and chosen to still simply describe him as a “co-founder”, so I would too.
I welcome you making the point though.

I shouldn't be surprised -- in my opinion, McCoskrie is not a very honest man -- but wow: Family First thoroughly and grievously misinterpreted their evidence there, didn't they? Rather puts Graeme's (quite proper) critique of Wall's research in context.
