Pic 2. Speaking of diving, directly below where I took the first shot, a piece of local knowledge, a perfect natural diving platform for the brave. This shot taken from the bach, about 500m away. One boy leaps from the highest point, his mates are climbing up the ramp for more. They climbed around the rocks to get there.
Christ. It looks like the distance that needs to be cleared to avoid landing on rocks is quite considerable.

Great Carol. Can’t believe they opened it and didn’t invite Jonathan, Sophie and I! We’ve practically been camping out waiting. We’ll have to do another trip soon.
It sounds like the opening itself was a bit of a shambles. There was supposed to be food laid on, but there was a problem with the caterers and everyone, Nikki Kaye included, stood around for a long time waiting for things to happen.

It’s a nice piece of civic architecture, encompassed by a big pohutukawa at one end and opening out onto views of the marina at the other.
The path on the St Mary's Bay side is great too. It just needs properly connecting with the street at the Pt Erin end. I must find out who can make that decision.

hooked up my old Nikon slide scanner, upgraded VueScan, and played with a few images from the box of slides that has remained more or less untouched for a couple of decades.
With impressive results. They're nice-looking images.

Not many bones were broken but I imagine the re were sore bits this morning. :-)I strongly approve of this mudslide.
It's fortunate I wasn't present, or I would probably have enthusiastically injured myself.

I'm stoked! The two support artists I had no interest in seeing, Tim Finn and James Reyne, are gone from the bill, and we're in Row B at the Civic!
