His isn’t the only action changing the way science is published and many would argue the changes would have come without him but I have to respect his actions and motives. It’s sad that he was persecuted for those actions.
Yes. Both Lessig and danah boyd have have similarly noted that "his methods were not mine" in pursuit of the goals they shared.

I don’t think it’s a reasonable political excuse to not develop better laws but I just don’t know that I would do away with all police and prosecutorial leeway.
Yes. There's an important place for prosecutorial discretion, but it's not an excuse for not making better laws. Eric Schlosser's Reefer Madness offers a great examination of how the combination of prosecutorial discretion and sentencing gimmickry has distorted the American system. Basically, prosecutors do the sentencing by deciding which offence they'll prosecute.

But I would rather go to a restaurant that is consistently Very Good – Prego is probably the best example I can think of here – where the food will never amaze, but like a high class Cobb ‘n’ Co, you know what you’re getting, every time.
I kind of wish we’d just taken our chances with the non-bookable Prego for our family dinner date on New Year’s Eve. We opted for GPK, where the kitchen managed to completely ruin my very expensive steak – I suspect by preparing it too soon and leaving it under lights until the other meals were ready. The young waiter apparently didn't grasp what I was saying when I drew attention to it. It would’ve been safer to just order pizzas all round.

And by implication, I'm not either of those things? ;-)
It's quite nice coming down, though. There's a path to some quiet streets down the western side.

I know exactly the spot you were standing in, Bruce. Big King was my 2nd home for 12 years.
I only discovered Big King last year, and for me it's the Auckland volcano I can't quite get up on my bike. I get to the crest of the hill, see the city to the north and then just lose the will for the final 30m to the water tank.

Too kind. I think that taking pictures of the sky was a key in the logic of the current iPhone camera.
