I’ve been made aware of a bit of context – not that big a deal, but just so no one can say we left it out: Pipes formerly worked for the Dimension Data subsidiary that did the 2011 security audit that warned MSD of its problems. But he left soon after DiData acquired the company in 2007, and years before the audit was carried out.

David Parker just called to clarify that his trip wasn't entirely self-funded -- he is entitled to a 75% subsidy for research trips.
He also emphasised that there was and is no personal enmity between him and Cunliffe, and I didn't pick that up. It was just a funny moment.

I feel I should note that two journalists -- Brian Fallow and Vernon Small -- turned up at the Wellington Voyage and stuck around to talk with the speakers. That was encouraging.

Well, it’s not quite Kiwiblog of the left, but lets just say the toys are on the floor and a few claims to never be voting for Labour ever again :)
Lots of claims that Cunliffe and Cunliffe alone posed a major threat to pro business neo liberal status quo, and thus had to be silenced.I'm finding the backlash a bit odd and distasteful right now.

Chris Hipkins, the only person who we actually know is saying Cunliffe is dicking the party around, is 34 years old. Who do you think has been talking to the media, and if you think that, how do you know?
Mallard had some fairly blunt words about Cunliffe (without naming him) in one TV report, and I would expect he'd be one of those talking non-attributably to certain journalists.

Same.
And me. I've met both men and been impressed by them -- and subsequently less-than-impressed by both of them.
My wish? That they'd find a friggin' way to work productively together. And that's not a partisan wish, it's a wish with the good of the country in mind.
