Here's last night's episode -- local viewers only for the time being.
It was really pretty good, and the discovery of the old nurses' uniforms was a nice touch. I was surprised at how many of the characters I recognised -- although I'm given to understand that the entire Jefferies family is back specially.

Not such a great food experience. We stayed in a Mt Albert motel on Saturday night and there was a heady smell of rancid fat hanging over the suburb–maybe even drifting towards Port Chev. Is this usual?
The Chinese establishments in the Mt Albert shops don't tend to be a great advertisement for Chinese food. Could've been one of them.

I’m still an al Volo fan but I actually think the pizzas benefit from reheating in a covered frying pan which suggests I prefer the bases a bit more done.
I was disappointed the last time we got pizzas at Al Volo. They were underdone, very expensive and not that great. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Another vote for Khyber Spice - great range, great smells and friendly.
Another good place I try andy ride to where possible. Lovely folks, excellent range. Should really have mentioned them in the original post.
Also: Subh, a couple of doors down, has made-that-day vegetable (mostly) curries that are half the prize and twice the size of a conventional takeaway dish, all boxed up. They have the same yummy samosas as Khyber Spice does, because they make them. Yum.

Clearwater yoghurt everywhere in Oamaru & further south – we know a bloody good thing when we taste it.
Just discovered that the tandoori butterflied chicken at Farro uses a marinade made with Clearwater yoghurt. Gotta love that.
