I didn’t get Lana Del Rey until I realised she’s just a pop singer. LDR’s bounce around the cool indie world left me indifferent. It’s just been in the last couple of weeks that the fuller picture has become clear. Oh, she’s just a pop singer with some good songs. There’s plenty of room in my life for that.

Sure it can be gruelling, hard, and mostly faceless work, but so was the packing floor at Westfield when I was a lad. And we were not well paid mostly – even for the compulsory overtime hours we had to work.
But you did have basic labour standards. It's interesting that the rich and powerful US doesn't seem able to operate a meat-processing industry that isn't a frightening and abusive hell for those who labour in it.

The kids at Toro Y Moi danced heaps, and waved their shoes in the air like they didn't care. This left the band's singer bemused -he said "What's with the shoes in the air? If forget my lyrics its your guys fault, with your shoe waving distracting me...
Does anyone have any idea what that was about? It was fun, but ... WTF?
