There's a thread for earthquake reports and reposes here.

Emma Hart is in Wellington. Karl and the kids took off from Christchurch airport today in the nick of time to join her. Phew.

Similarly. I joined the spirits departing the coast, but it seems I can’t view the homeland. New Zealand on screen, but not on air.
Damn, forgot to mention that. I presume it's a Film Commission stipulation.

Also happy to hear that friend of the site Blair Parkes and his family are safe and well in New Brighton.

Just stopped after an hour of retweeting reports, getting this thread up, etc. Feeling teary now.
Especially re-reading these successive tweets from Cheryl Bernstein:
We know, after a big one, that there are weeks & months of aftershocks ahead, & that’s what makes it so hard to bear. #eqnz
And:
But we will bear it. We can. There’s strength in knowledge, and experience, and community. #eqnz

CHECKING IN: David Haywood, Jen Hay and family are fine.
They were out driving by Dunsandel and, amazingly, didn't feel a thing. Frankly, if anyone deserved a break ...

Queue is out the door and down the stree at the Westmere Butcher and they’ve been open since 2am.
Yikes. I was lucky then. It was merely jam-packed when I went 40 minutes ago.
I wonder how many people they get coming in at 3am after some pre-Christmas clubbing? They should lay on some beats, bro.

I'm spending Christmas Day in hospital with my present: the newest member of our family, born yesterday. I await the Auckland hospital version of Xmas dinner with some trepidation!
I expect a detailed report on that.
And like I said yesterday, congratulations. So glad you're well and happy and have a new boy to cherish.

To wit, this was the conversation last night: "I'm going to the pub" "Who are you going with?" "Sacha and Jackson and Sofie" "Remind me?" "Public Address friends" "Ah, yes" and so it goes.
I meant to get there, I really did. But Wednesday night had been ... large.
I very much look forward to riding over to convene with you all throughout summer.
