I have recently come by the parents’ slide collection and am wondering what to do with them.
It occurs to me that at some point inviting everyone to delve into their parents' photo albums and scan and post some here would be fun and rewarding.

No, and they don’t expect you to; the disabling comments thing is aimed at political pages. I think people are taking the advisory way out of context.
In a practical sense, perhaps, but the EC's earlier advisory, in May, was similarly blunt.
… It is an offence, at any time on election day before the close of the poll at 7pm, to publish any statement intended or likely to influence any elector as to the candidate or party or referendum option for whom the elector should or should not vote.
These rules reflect the long-standing feature of New Zealand electoral law that voters should be free from interference and influence on election day. They are the reason, for example, that all election billboards have to be removed before polling day.
These rules apply to statements published or broadcast in all media including social media. The Electoral Act specifically addresses the application of these rules to websites.
Your Twitter stream doesn't have to be a "political page" for you to be seen to attempt to influence others' votes on the day. It's a breach if you post a Facebook status that reads "Woo! Everybody vote for Winston today!" It's publishing.

I don’t disagree, I am always careful with my wording, especially round Telecom whom I enjoyed a very good business relationship with. It was however an incredibly badly handled float and subsequent investment in infrastructure avoided while they played in the fields of the lord regarding investing in other areas

It’s pretty easy to stop people commenting on your wall. go to Privacy Settings, How You Connect and set Who can post on your Wall? to Only Me.
Fair enough. Facebook's a mystery to me.
But is it reasonable to expect people to disable comments that have no connection to the election at all?

so it’s like Telecom was, a dead sitter for certain people to have shares in a Govt. guaranteed monopoly…
I still think selling Telecom was the correct thing to do. Telecommunications needed a market.
The problem was National being played for complete and utter rubes by the people who did it. They allowed themselves to be convinced that a promise to be really nice and not abuse Telecom's overwhelming dominance precluded the need for regulation.

Children’s Hour: How Is The Air Up There? Again, Unrecorded as far as I know. I heard them play the all-time version at their final show at the Windsor.
Blazing version. But Chris was very firmly of the view that it was stupid to record cover versions.
For their last tour they worked on a cover of 'Wichita Lineman', but couldn't get it down.

think it might be too big. I’m giving up.
Select the image the image you want in iPhoto, then choose Export from the File menu.
Export as a a jpeg, quality high, size large. That's way smaller than full-size, but plenty nice for here.

There's a story flying around the wires that National plans to release the recording (which they don't have) at 9am on Friday to thwart the two saturday morning papers.
It doesn't make any sense and seems to come from a bogus Twitter account.
OTOH, I wouldn't be too surprised to see everything published offshore before Friday.
