So here’s some fruitfulness, but the atmosphere perhaps more competitive than mellow, as a flock of silvereyes jockey for a brief opportunity in the prime perch to pick off the next ripe fig in sequence. Ten days ago when that red-leaved creeper was showing off.
The fig season was odd in Auckland -- early (six weeks ago?), short and less than fruitful. I saw figs in a shop only once, and they were dreadful little things.

Heading out for a ride to buy paneer and stuff, thought I might put on a light long-sleeve top. Forget it. 21º at 85% humidity. Switched back to a tee.

I’m baffled by so many people that normally wouldn’t touch heavy metal with a bargepole going ga-ga over Beastwars – John Campbell being a classic example. Is it simply because they’re from NZ ?
I gather they've had that response ever since they emerged: "I'm not really into metal, but I like you guys."

Perhaps signs also of the efficacy of good insulation? I haven’t felt the need for heating in the house yet.
