or the entry to the cycleway coming down Newton Rd from Ponsonby (that is for confident cyclists only, I’d agree, indeed I think most cyclists wouldn’t even think to use it at all).
It's a friggin' nightmare. Much safer to head west along Great North Road and join the "other" cycle path at the bottom of Potatau St.

Wandering through the Queenstowns gardens last weekend on my currently gammy leg I was continually being hassled by cyclists for not getting out of the way
Wtf is wrong with some people? Fwiw, I'll always slow down if I think a walker hasn't seen me, and I'll thank anyone who steps aside to let me through, as I go past. It costs me nothing to do that.

A motorist can see a person wandering up to a crossing, and looking both ways, but a cyclist whizzing across as if it were an automatic assumption… well I’ve almost taken one out before.
And that’s just stupid riding. I wasn’t joking about eyeballing the traffic coming up that off-ramp. I don’t go unless I’m confident the driver has seen me and is giving way.

And you are clearly a person who uses words with no understanding of their meaning. Someone who insists that climate changes constantly can never be accurately labelled a climate change denier, It is nonsensical to insist otherwise. But you may not be alone.
I'm generally inclined to let these debates run because they produce useful and interesting rebuttals. But I think we've passed that point now. I would like us to get off this tedious, circular argument.
Everyone else, it would probably help now if you didn't respond to FG.

It’s not really denialist, and probably worth a read if you’ve actually got an interest in staying abreast of what’s happening in the field. The Economist wrote the article from which the NBR piece is drawn. The scientists whose work is used aren’t denialist hacks, either.
That Economist story is interesting and thorough. Nevil Gibson in NBR shouting about climate change "myths" being "exposed" is just noise.

Except we’re not so keen on capital improvements that don’t improve the capital value of the property. All the research I’m aware of shows that so far buyers won’t pay the necessary amount more for energy-efficiency improved properties, so for now, photovoltaics/solar hot water/insulation/double glazing/etc can only be valued in terms of what the property-owner will get out of them over the period they’re planning to live in the house; otherwise they’re over-capitalising.
When we extended our house, double-glazing seemed to be a condition of building approval and insulation was just a no-brainer. But we had to let go of solar water heating -- it was just such a big investment that would take a long while to pay off.
