Maybe you weren’t close enough? :-P
Quite possibly. I was near the sound desk, and some people around me gradually stopped applauding between songs ...

Saw the Annie Leibovitz photo thing in Sydney but was a bit unmoved by it–except for the enormous photos of Monument Valley.
I went to the Leibowitz show at the Wellington gallery several years ago. Couldn't find the soul in it anywhere.

Gary Sullivan - dimmer/ solid gold hell/ jpse ,on the fall at the power station the other night - "best gig I've seen in years, a very long time since I've felt that from a band"
Fair enough. It really seemed to me like the worst Fall gig I've ever seen. And that's six -- or seven if you count the ballet production of I Am Kurious Oranj (which I actually quite liked).

Misfits – show of the year ... I’ve seen the first two episodes of the new series and gosh darn it, it’s getting even better.
Ep 4 is dazzling. It does things I've never seen a TV show do before.

Here’s a link that IMHO conclusively supports Neil’s work here of late.
It's not trolling if it's uttered in good faith, just an argument considered faulty by others.

(um, that’s probably not what you meant, is it?)
No, but if you're happy, I'm happy.

On the geek front, Misfits -- along with Being Human, Sherlock and Steven Moffat's simply glorious debut season as showrunner of Doctor Who -- has taught the Yanks that a good actors with great material trump glossy production values.
The irony there being that all the above are treasures in the sea of rubbish that is most current British television.

Hi all. Coming back to the topic …
I gather Nicky Hager had some interesting discussions with the Star Times about what was a good story from the cables. He didn’t think the “International Visitor” cable was a big deal, but the newspaper really wanted it.
Of course. It had celebrities in it.
Apparently there’s another round this coming Sunday.

An encouraging report about the quality of New Zealand aid spending.

i have a vague suspicion Rb would like to be taken on that trip.
Come to think of it, I was once invited to make a Fulbright funding application after I’d done some presentation at Parliament, but I never got around to thinking of a good purpose for it.
