Hard News: About Arie, in reply to
First time I’ve seen the statement – but if accurately transcribed, isn’t “thought” a little different than actually saying it out loud to the guy he was visiting?
Ideal Goff response: ” I was clearly describing my immediate emotional response, which I suspect was shared by many New Zealanders. That's not what we do in a civilised society."”

Next time you should all come to ours.
It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

And the sad thing is that while Goff flounders around trying to please people, Lianne Dalziel and Brendon Burns are showing what being an Opposition MP should be about.
Dalziel actually uttered a unfortunately violent phrase about Ken Ring to the Herald, but it hasn't become an issue. I suspect this neatly bears out Rex's point. It passes because she is clearly and authentically mad as hell.

I think Goff’s comments flow naturally from Collins’, like his response to Key’s list of celebrities he’d like to do – he wants to be popular like the Nats, so when he hears one of them say something outrageous, his first instinct is to one-up them.
Sadly, I suspect you're right.

You were there? Damnit. Love your work.
I'm pretty sure that you and Steven were standing next to each other at some point.

Emma’s newfound repudiation of the “top down” approach
Hah! I had forgotten that. Hehehehehe.
She just can't help herself.

Keir Leslie does not look at all like you think he does.
I can vouch for that. I can also vouch he is brilliant company.
Indeed. I had a great rave with him and Steve Parks. Very nice to put faces to the names.
Also nice to meet Ross Mason, who actually looked like I imagined he would.

Oh, and in other happy news, we’ll be able to give $1000+ to the Christchurch City Mission, thanks to the raffle, donations and Toby Manhire very generously chucking in his fee.
And I’m back in Auckland, tired but happy at the end of a long month of talking and organising and looking forward to a quiet and restful weekend.
What’s that? Oh … I appear to have invited a whole lot of people around for a barbecue tomorrow. How did that happen?
I must marinate a large piece of lamb and soak some chickpeas.

The Collins email doesn't actually say "Public Address". It says "Russell Brown's blog". She doesn't seem to like me.
