Hard News: Cranks, self-seekers and the mayor, in reply to Russell Brown,
Cliffs notes - Fonterra has been talking with ATEED about selling its products at events. Shed 10 naming rights are not under discussion.
NBR says "The NZ Herald today incorrectly reported...." which could hardly be more direct. I'm surprised the Herald has not commented.

So has Orsman corrected his story to take account of Fonterra's clarification (to put it kindly) which has been up on NBR most of today?

Hard News: Narcissists and bullies, in reply to Kracklite,
What the what?? This is bizarre and alarming, and cackhanded.

Hard News: Narcissists and bullies, in reply to Stephen Judd,
Stephen, thanks. If Labour as a movement has not absorbed the feminist ethos after all this time, well, I just don't get it. Imagine being a woman having to caucus with Tamihere.

Here is something that enraged me, interested in the PAS view, particularly Labour Party members:
"Are you really saying, for example, that working class Maori men who look and sound like Willie and JT don’t deserve representation in the Labour party because of their offensive views on certain issues?"From this thread on Pundit: http://pundit.co.nz/content/roast-busters-horror-reveals-ugly-politics

Hard News: Narcissists and bullies, in reply to slarty,
This:
"I feel for the Police. I suspect the poor buggers have been fighting the legal machine internally for years, and then made sure this went public out of frustration."Is totally unfounded.

As anyone who has been involved in a trial of sexual crime can tell you, it is a long drawn out and traumatising experience. Repeated police interviews, as sensitively as some police may handle them, are traumatising for victims. The process of coming to trial takes _years_. Cross examination is an often days long ordeal where the objective of highly skilled defence counsel is to show you are lying, mistaken, or deluded. Conviction rates are low. The fact is that these young women's choice to not provide evidence on which a criminal charge could be laid is rational. It sucks, hard, and I'd be happy to see it change, but from my experience (on the sideline, I'm fortunate to say) it would be unfair to judge them on that decision.

My reaction to this whole affair has been along the lines of NONONO DO NOT WANT. Don't care where the Mayor gets his, definitely don't want the details, disgusted by the right wing hate machine. Ask me again in a week when all the details are all out, suspect I will feel the same.
