haven't we been over this time and time again?
indeed
Henrik Schwarz, Dixon & AME,
pure subjective moment, as I read that i was most way through version 1 of d.p.o.m.b [any idea what that stands for?] there is a moment there where it sounds like a modern twist on early nineties dubhouse, kinda like what garnier is doing at the moment. is good.
there are no hidden depths here, apart from the fact that i adore a nice serving of serendipity, and it is always worth the slight ritual of a celebration, make the etherial i small bit realer.
carry on.

Dave Dobbyn album this week produced by Adrian Sherwood
 is right.
my jaw was so wide, agape with shock, that a nearby 4 year old boy ran up and tried to stuff a tomastankengine toy into it.

slight tangent:
The BBCsports sequence with music and animation by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett is most very brilliant.
It is based on the rather terribly excellent Monkey stage show and upcoming album that was featured on an eisode of Imagine late last year.
there is a rather nice higher quality and downloadable version at http://dekku.blogspot.com/2008/07/bbc-olympics-monkey.html

watchmen.
unfilmable.
In fact most graphic sequential art is not suited to interpretation to the screen. however it is possible to re-interpret it sometimes without breaking it too much [see persiopolis, ghostown, hellboy]. Watchmen however derives much of its stunning sucess to the way it is structured [partly why it is one of Time magazines top100 novels evah]its the symmetry; the way the stucture and pacing informs the narrative; the way you linger over certain images; taking in the background detail; finding things that will be important later; flipping back to certain points and jumping forward again.
I see some small hope in that it looks like the story will work across simultaneously released games and a dvd of 'the black freighter' [no word yet on whether we will see hollis mason wearing the strap-on breastplate to The Ride of The Valkyries].
Ultimately the film will have to work as a standalone piece. and I really cant see it doing the work justice.

In Canada it's still illegal to own or distribute a crime comic.
but they seem so civilised in their approach to seqential art:
[a bit of an aside from the topic at hand, since it relates to printed works]
In a thoughtful letter from the agency, dated 27 October 2006, the CBSA stated that the “depictions and descriptions are integral to the development of an intricate, imaginative, and artfully rendered storyline,” and that “the portrayal of sex is necessary to a wider artistic and literary purpose.” They concluded with “Its importation into Canada is therefore allowed.”
It was those pesky australians who confiscated issues of From Hell [fyi, as with all uncle Alan Moore adaptations thus far; book far far better than film]:
i fear i am wandering too far off subject here.

The thing about the Miller Test is that it shifts the burden of proof onto the defence. Rather than the prosecution having to prove that Fletcher's material was obscene, Fletcher would have had to prove that it had SLAPS value.
reminds me of one of the more inventive uses of google trends:
What’s Obscene? Google Could Have an AnswerJudges and jurors who must decide whether sexually explicit material is obscene are asked to use a local yardstick: does the material violate community standards?............
.........In the trial of a pornographic Web site operator, the defense plans to show that residents of Pensacola are more likely to use Google to search for terms like “orgy” than for “apple pie” or “watermelon.”
