Please do explain how conventional media is not zero sum - there are hardly unlimited production or distribution resources/channels.
Because the answer to 'disability issues need more air time' doesn't have to be 'investigation of social disfunction/crime gets less'. There's plenty of crud on TV which could make way for both. TV is only zero sum in its entirety, which you weren't discussing.

I respect your stake in this, but unless you think there are unlimited media resources then frankly, yes, there is competition for public attention.
It's not necessarily a zero sum game though. I'd much rather the media put more time into both of them and less into Rock of Love IV or Who loves New York, or whatever is on this week.

An RWC in Samoa might not wind up being be very glitzy, but I'm sure people would have a good time.
While it's somewhat unfortunately, Samoa wouldn't be anywhere near able to cope with the visitor numbers that would attend a RWC.
Clearly you don't just need the players, a ball and a referee.

Geez, they dont publish one for writers (or other artists as far as I know.)
The true social order becomes apparent-No doubt they will once your profession becomes legalised.

So why don't we call it that? Calling our government the Crown just means that people can pretend the crap stems from a royal person in a castle, not the dumbass government they voted in.
Because of the Queen ever decided to exert some actual power, like dismissing a government (a la Whitlam), we'd find out who's actually on top.

Yes... have wondered about that one for a while. Has this ever been referred to a competition commission (or similar)?
Didn't the competition (the Star) just go out of business? It's not like the Herald bought them up.

Ah true, good point. Now I'm unmotivated :(

In the case of medical insurance the "co-ops" have tended to be instigated by members of the medical profession to effectively create a private market for their services in the face of otherwise becoming public servants in the public health system.
That postdates what Stephen was talking about by some time. I thought early insurance was more to do with trade - a guild would collectively put in money so if one of their number got robbed or something, they would receive support. A couple of hundred years before the idea of insuring your health came about.

Random random ballots are probably better (except for the poeple counting them), and they've been done in New Zealand before, so feel free to add that to your select committee submission!
The fact that the first option is FPP has me motivated.

Shouldn't they be randomised?
Wouldn't a lot put them in random order? Or do you mean a different random order on each ballot?
I suppose these usual suspects don't really count
From that link:
Peter Shirtcliffe said it made sense to allow voters to rank possible replacements for MMP preferentially.
Wait. Peter Shirtcliffe is arguing for a preferential system? Did he get confused some time in the last 17 years?
