We do have crown prosecutors. I presume the difference here is that they get involved after the investigation, whereas some places overseas they get involved more while the police are still doing their work.

On Checkpoint this evening, I heard it being theorised that Tuvalu was now suffering from island-sweeping storm surges because tectonic activity was making it sink, rather than because sea levels were rising. Now that's some impressive circumlocution of the problem.
Ah, it's not the sea-level rise, the world is sinking!
We continue to run coal and gas fired power plants because of the naive belief that nuclear energy = bad.
There are umpteen reasons why NZ doesn't have nuclear power. Public opinion is one of them. Lack of expertise, scale, nuclear waste, cost, and NZ actually having enough renewable power to run the damn country are the other ones.

I'm still waiting for the eureka moment to strike me as to why New Zealand's Reserve Bank has named its governor after a traffic cone.
Seems quite reasonable really given that they are the immovable object on inflation flexibility.

It was a comment made a press conference in front of umpteen journalists, which three different papers from three different companies have all reported. Let's bag the Herald for the umpteen things they do a crap job on, rather than dutifully reporting what the PM says?

Which is quite an assumption to make where The Herald is concerned. Sorry, but someone had to say it.
