And I'm ashamed to be a New Zealander on the basis of this whole debacle.
I'm also embarassed by the result. How ~90% of returns can vote 'no' on that form... very sad.

Yes. We have brains.
Apparently only 35.9% of you :P
The informal votes (spoilt) seem to have gotten a fair bit of coverage given they were under 10,000.

Sending 10,000 heavily armed troops to an island that has a population of 100,000 is hardly a war, it is more of "a flagrant violation of international law"
Only if you market it wrong. Which America does tend to do.

US 1, Grenada nil
I think Grenada was quite well conceived, if "easy win" is your goal.
Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Korea, not so much.

Even the simple ruler test will pick up that someone shouldn't be in control of a car. Dangle a 12" rule in front of the testee, with their finger and thumb ready to try to grab the rule as it is released. A drunk will be lucky to react in time to catch the rule at all.
This sounds like a test to discriminate against people who are uncoordinated.

So if barriers on state highways and other key highspeed areas could reduce that by even 50% that is 1.37 billion dollars saved per year, or over five years a return on investment of 6.8 billion dollars.
I like how you slipped that 50% figure in there. Because half of all crashes would clearly be completely prevented by the barrier, no one hitting someone on the same section of motorway as them, or indeed, off the motorway.

Too right they are. I find now that I get definite endorphin lows on days when I don't ride or run.
I now feel that I should start a campaign to make this problem a health issue, rather than a legal one. Norml will help kick it off.

Er, 10 - 15 years ago that should be.

Oh yes. But they seem nice.
I always think my 10 - 15 year old self seemed so innocent. But very passionate about it.

Agreed. One positive test and you never compete in professional sport again.
I think there's a bit of a scale. If we believe shane warne, he was just done for a pill that any non-professional sports person could have taken, which he did by mistake. That's pretty different (for me) than an athlete who's pumping steroids into their body via weekly syringe sessions.
