3410: interesting. It's the page everyone was pointing at yesterday, containing guidelines for Ministers and apparently consulted by Bennett. There's a cached version here.

Someone needs to find the answer to that. Might just be 'the internet', but if its been taken down, who did it and why?

The fact that Burgess and his wife owned two other properties and the fact that Burgess wouldn't have been a story had not Phil Goff touted him to the press are both relevant.

Also that information is something any journalist could have got in about 5 minutes, from public sources.

A piece of paper saying "here is how much this person gets in benefits and why" you can't access publicly. Best you could do is make an estimate based on what you know about them.

They attempted to treat terrorists merely as criminals, and in doing so allowed the terrorists a large measure of control in setting the agenda and general 'playing to the gallery'.

Giving in to their demand that they all be housed together and be allowed all those materials and ability to communicate with each other... insane. Of course, they planned attacks from jail. Nutty.

The court stuff was entertaining but nothing compared to the Chicago trials from the 1968 convention. The judge there made the German judge look like a rocket scientist.

With all due respect Graeme, aren't you a little tired of "After nine... long... years..." and "When Labour was in power..."? I mean, really how long is a year? Isn't it National who should be accountable for their own actions now?

What Graeme said: I thought the context that the previous government leaked this stuff (in a quieter way) interesting. Particularly given the righteous indignation that Labour has displayed over this incident.

It's pretty good. First half is a cracker, but it sags a fair bit in the second half (when the main bunch are in jail). The ending seemed a bit weird and abrupt.

Caught this on Monday. Yes it was long, first half was good, second half was meh. The exploration of the move to violence was reasonably well covered, for a movie. I thought the Middle East terrorist links were played up for humour a bit much.

Sound in the Regent theatre was fantastic. Every gunshot and explosion sound was incredibly real. Seats still very uncomfortable however.

What Uni did Paula go to? Our kids went to the most excellent one at Otago run by the Students Association from '87. What's the betting there was one, but is was not deemed 'suitable' by La Bennett who went freelance?

Paula was Massey-Albany President in the mid-90s.

I didn't know her well, but I'm dubious about the 'incompetence' line or the 'malicious' line. This feels like a newbie Minister mistake to me. But a pretty bad one.

This has been lavish praise for so meagre an accomplishment in the context of the overall economic transformation and leadership we're looking for.

Only if you saw a cycleway/s as some sort of solution to our economic woes imho. Which always seemed nuts to me.

If you're viewing it from the perspective of development of non-urban cycle routes for tourism/recreation, these seven with $9 million, plus more to come seems pretty good to me.

I am just confused about how one might attack with two knives and a meat cleaver if one did not have, say, an extra robotic limb.

Probably acted in a pirate movie. One knife between his teeth. Aaarrh!

You've been reading kiwiblog comments again, haven't you?

Eww. I don't go near the place. Spoils the effect of showering daily.

Just as, to return to the original post, Ministers of the Crown don't get a pass for pulling numbers out of their arses, or trying to shove inconvenient data down the memory hole.

Apparently they do get a pass for breaking the law though.
