The higher-end Sony and Samsung TVs also now have USB ports and play avi files, which is quite sexy too.
We're going to overlook this use of 'sexy' in relation to "ways to connect your TV to other electrical stuff" this once.
But keep it up, and Nigel Latta will be sent your blog and comments to diagnose you.

Having had a breach of my privacy in the mid-90s, unless the policy or law has changed they're probably out of luck getting anything from the Privacy Commissioner.
Not only does the law have to have been breached, but you have to prove that the breach of the law has affected you negatively in some actual way.
If you can't prove that they'll tell you to bugger off.

Liking the look of District 9. Has a non-hollywood feel about it - like you can tell it's been made in South Africa. The marketing looks quite smart.
But seriously, was I the only person who thought Jackson had a platonic crush on Liv Tyler considering how often everything ground to a halt so we could have vaseline-smeared sequences of her staring pensively out of windows or lapsing into a mystical coma?
Liv Tyler was quite extensively cut (from action sequences) and the story rewritten because her and her acting just didn't work.
I suspect vaseline smearing and pensive staring with blurry lighting is about as good as her acting gets.

1. up to the end of the second world war, the vast majority of immigrants to nz were from britain and ireland. there were very tiny minorities from places such as central europe, nordic countries, the balkans and southern china.
And Australia. Australian immigration in the 19th century and early 20th century is a massive influence (most had origins in the UK).

That's impressive work Keith. I've expressed my disgust in a letter to the editor (or two).

But if I sign up under my real name my posts count goes back to zero and everyone will think I'm new to PAS.
This is your penance for not following suggestions:
We prefer that you use your full name as your username, thanks.

I suspect various people use PA/S in different ways.
I use an RSS feeder, and that picks up new PA posts, but I don't read them in my feeder. I visit the site frequently and look for new posts and newly updated threads.
I never go to the classic page, I do all my PA browsing from /system/. I can barely remember what the main post looks like.
A feature I'd love to have (which wordpress would provide) is 'new posts since your last visit' highlighted. Then when I revisit the site I can just click the highlighted links to update myself on what people have said, instead of trying to remember when I last checked.
Also PAS logs me out frequently and I have to log back in, no idea why.
Also this structure on the system main page:
Hard News: The Short and Long of It
Discussion from blog post Read TopicDoesn't make sense to me. The title links to the forum, read topic links to the forum, and 'last post' (off to the right) also reads to the forum. I have to look to the column on the left for the original blog post, and if the blogger has posted several blogs and I'm catching up, I have to dig through them by using the arrows.
"Read Topic", by my logic, should lead back to the original blog (like the link at the top once you get into the actual comments). Or the title could lead to the blog and 'read topic' could be renamed to make it more obvious that it leads to the discussion forum.
And the edit button, obviously. Though I'd like the system to report that a post has been edited (like wordpress does), so people can't go all "NZ Herald" on us.

Just quietly, exactly what I expected.
Aye. That's hardly even news. He'll have been through the communal living unit so fast that his feet will have hardly touched the ground on the way to segregation.

Use of lethal force to meet lethal force is legal in this country, the protestations of Insensible Sentencing notwithstanding.
I believe they're still focused on lethal force to meet nonlethal tagging.

Does anyone know what the legal aid bill for this was? What is Kerr's hourly rate? And her teams? Would the defence team have been influenced by the amount they could charge to legal aid for running it in the way they did?
She and King represented some friends of mine who were arrested by police for 'rioting' during the protests here on campus on September 28th 1993. I know that the defendants and the students association couldn't afford to pay her proper rate and she didn't bill for anything near the total number of hours. She's also done a lot of voluntary work for the Law Society over the years.
It's a tremendously long bow to draw from 'wow this defendant was a complete asshole on the stand' to 'it's their lawyer's fault' to 'the lawyer did it for the money'. If you're a criminal lawyer then you are going to represent some really bad sorts. You can advise them, but in the end you have to follow their instructions as to their defence, which might be what happened in this case.
Ablett-Kerr has also represented Peter Ellis remember.
