It's not just the skillset, it's the blistering natural speed. She'll always beat her man on the outside.
Heh. Several years of attending physical education class with Danielle when we were all younger, makes this doubly entertaining :)

Australia moves the Baa-baas match (which was really just a vehicle for some Sonny-Bill perving) to after the French game and move Italy up a week. So, Italy arrive a week early here, play Canterbury (during the day), then another province/Super 14 squad, then the All Blacks (the All Blacks have a week between France and Italy and then a week between Italy and Aus). Or, heaven forbid, they could play the NZ Maori.
My point is, why would Italy come for four games when they could come for three and make as much money? You can charge twice as much to watch the All Blacks play Italy as Hawkes Bay or the Hurricanes vs Italy.
I don't disagree that we should be hosting B level teams, particularly in the window after super 14 but before Air NZ cup. I doubt that Italy is what we should be looking at though, they're tied into the European club and 6 nation schedule which means their time down here is limited and has to earn as much as possible. We should look at countries that aren't locked into a tournament at this time of year - what are Canada and the USA teams doing? The lesser European teams?
Likewise, the All Blacks wouldn't return to a traditional tour anymore. They can earn as much playing 4 tests in 4 weeks around the home nations as they can in 6 weeks playing a couple of tests and a bunch of club sides.

Only if someone does the dastardly deed of splashing their name (as opposed to a selectively edited version of their deeds) over the newspapers and internet.
What a stupid media release from family first. Most people who go to court end up named in the court news of several daily papers. If you didn't throw yourself at the media before you went to court, they might not put it in such a prominent place after left the building.

Is that too surprising? Even if you disagree with smacking - as we both do - surely we can recognise that those who do smack will often/usually/almost always do it because they think their children have been misbehaving?
I file this in the same box as "bloody girlfriend! Should have known not to [do any one of many things] when I've been drinking/had a hard day at work/etc. Then she wouldn't have got hit."
While it's not surprising, it's the fact that it's still considered acceptable by a lot of people in society to say that about kids, whereas not many people would still think about saying it about an adult. That's the contradiction that needs more highlighting.

So, could someone enlighten me public policy guidance comes from asking a question about people's religious beliefs? Last time I looked, we don't live in a theocracy.
I should point out that censuses aren't just used in public policy, they give valuable information about our country.
We would know a lot less about ourselves if (the vast majority of) people didn't tick the boxes in census forms honestly.
How religious do NZers consider themselves to be? Is this more or less than it used to be? Is it more/less in 'name', or in some sort of reality such as attending religious services regularly? What's the ethnic/racial/gender/age makeup of our country? Are we becoming increasingly 'Asian', increasingly 'Pacific Island'? Are we an 'older' country or 'younger' now?
We can't know who we are without asking ourselves questions that provide those answers. If we want to understand ourselves less, everyone should refuse to answer the questions in the census or tick 'other' and then not add anything more.
We are better informed because of censuses that have been done in the past, that will still be true fifty years from now of the censuses still yet to be done.

The schedule could be juggled easily, I'm sure
I presume Italy wouldn't go for it either. They'll get a lot more money from playing 3 tests than they will playing one test and two provincial sides.

From Lyndon's link:
Justice sector forecasts point to an extra 5,000 prison beds being required by 2018. Clearly, we will also have to build a new prison
Heh. Try ten new prisons.

Can FF find a put-upon "good parent" who isn't a textbook example of a man with anger problems knocking his kids around?
They're not very good at choosing their test cases are they? They've been compiling 'victim parents' for adverts during the referendum. No doubt we'll find out all sorts of interesting things about them as well.

Actually there are other pages on the All Blacks web site that are quite up to date, including the ones about the Pacific Nations results. That whole page was clearly last touched a year ago, and given that it's a top menu link off the front page, you'd think they'd be a bit snappier.
Also, good opinion piece on why this weekend's game should have been played during the day (Tony Smith, The Press).

Roko has been awful this year. I'm not sure why you're ignoring that, but please watch a replay of Saturday's match.
Good that Masaga is getting a go. I would have been keen for them to try Ranger as a one off for the Italy game in the place of Joe. He looked really good in a super 14 match that I saw. Wouldn't hurt to bring him up for a bit of All Black experience.
Also, can the NZRU update some web pages?
Please note: The Junior All Blacks are not playing any matches in the 2008 season.
How useful to know!
