Also, Kyle is originally from Auckland and is therefore a traitor in our midst. I like to bring that up regularly so he doesn't get all Mainlandy-High-Horse on our asses. Heh. :)
Actually I spent the first few months of my life in Te Kuiti I believe, when Dad was posted there. I'm practically rural when it comes down to it.

RoO - what I had in mind was those "South Auckland booths" - the mobilising of which swung the election for Labour in 2005, whilst their staying home cost Labour in 2008.
No I think if the turnout in south auckland had been higher, Labour still would have got a kicking, just slightly less of one.

Both inside and outside the Auckland Town Hall, the projections were perfectly mapped onto the building's physical features. How did they do that?
A digital model of the building I'd guess. Same technology that gets used to create CGI movies of real locations, except you're reversing it and projecting onto the real location, rather than projecting the whole location onto a screen.
How many Aucklanders ever gave a flying frig at a doughnut about Transmission Gully?
Waterview is a local issue being thrown out over the national news. It only affects people that drive around Auckland.
Transmission Gully has some actual national interest, if you ever want to get around the country, particularly from one end to the other without a plane. One decent earthquake would cut our country in half.

Prediction: the result of the s59 referendum will not be a happy one.
2ndary prediction: Given that it has no weight, National won't like that fact. What the hell do they then do with it?

Especially the Black Caps.
This name only makes sense to me when they're wearing actual caps.
I feel like they should be renamed when they're batting and both batsmen are wearing helmets.

Carolina and Boston, Detroit and Anaheim are also game 7 finishes, both on today.
Oh FFS.
What's the point of emailing me and not providing spoilers, and then putting them on here? Two people here following hockey and we can't coordinate?
(If you mention game 7 results before Sunday night, I'll have to fly up to Wellington and hurt you)

Where I draw the line is trying to register patents on plant varieties that are already widely used merely by virtue of having isolated and described their genomes.
Aye. I'm not jumping up and down about GE food and other products. I see it will have uses, and some of those uses will have real substantial benefits beyond cheaper, looking nicer, easier to grow etc. Like a lot of NZers I still find the process a bit creepy, and I'd like consumers to be given the information so they can make their own decisions.
When companies come in and start to take some sort of ownership over naturally occurring things: types of food, human dna etc, I feel that governments need to step in and bring out the 'declined' stamp. Some things should not ever be privatised.

The clip on that site misses the money quote from Smith: “"I'd watch that dude do anything… I'd watch that dude have sex with my wife at this point. He's such a good actor."
Which raises the obvious question: If he was having sex with your wife, what makes you think he'd be acting?

It's equivalent to living next door to a recording studio and using high tech listening devices to get a recording of a new band's album and then selling that.
These transparent attempts to use GE methods to transplant the zombie horror that is the copywrong thread onto this thread will not be allowed!
If Robbery and Mark start arguing in this thread then you're on your bike bucko.

Probably for very cheap rates too.
