They aren't, they're wholly owned by the people of NZ, and I for one think sonme of that money should be spread where it's needed.
I don't disagree with more money going to all schools, rather than just to some. I'll vote for an increase in school funding to come out of my taxes if it makes a significant difference at the 'coalface'.
On the other hand, I don't think I'm opposed to schools doing private fundraising of this type.
If you were to take it off them and distribute it around, it would dry up. No people who have more money than they know what to do with are going to give it to the government in what would essentially be additional voluntary taxes, whereas they will give it to one particular school or project.
And the schools that don't get such funding aren't worse off as a result of Auckland Grammar getting this money, they're just not any better off. I'm fully in favour of lifting the minimum via a floating lid pushing things up, but I'm not in favour of a lid on top pushing things down.

I'm talking about the taboo value of words ,not trying to remedy urban america, although i applaud those who do.
I think Jake's point was that "the taboo value of words" is strongly linked to urban, and race historically in America.
And running around using any old word you want without having an awareness of their history, and what you look like using the word, is likely to have interested consequences.

Though I'm pissed off you got your pony by post. I'm holding out for a damned unicorn. Are you listening RB?
Oh now you're just being silly. Anyone can post a pony. Takes magic to post a unicorn.

2. All jurors are trained ethically bound lawyers (for Mark)
This would at least double the number of lawyers we'd need in New Zealand.

I've always thought Smith made a fairly good commentator in both cricket and rugby. He tends to get the names of the players going on and off the field etc correct. Pisses the hell out of me when I'm watching a game and the commentators mix up the players. I start talking loudly at the TV going "No that's not Rodney, that's Ma'a you twits!"
Grant Fox I find moderately insightful as a rugby analysis guy. The few times I catch his newspaper column it's OK as well.

and that the same ex assistant commissioner of police chose to resign rather than face the 15 internal charges of sexual misconduct, after telling us all on the steps of the court,(just like tony veitch)that he would fight every charge tooth and nail
That's probably not a fair representation of Rickard's decision to resign.
I suspect the police were trying to do everything they could to get him to resign, rather than have to put him through the disciplinary process. There's a statute of limitations in the police internal disciplinary procedure, so all his historical actions in relation to Louise Nicholas would have been excluded. Probably the worst things they could have done him for were his actions around the court case - turning up in his uniform, his statement after the other two were convicted. The internal procedure probably would have been a mockery in the eyes of the public, and they probably couldn't have dismissed him at all.
Rickards probably resigned when it became clear that the police were never going to allow him to serve again, and that the process was going to be dragged out as long as possible to prevent that. Whatever he got out of the whole thing, it was enough for him to agree to move on and start trying to work in a different field.

I bribed my oldest with stickers and chocloate but as soon as I tried to phase out the rewards he (very sensibly in hindsight) went on strike.
I bribed my oldest (must have been 3 I guess?) with getting him out of nappies for overnights. I put a bit of paper with 12 boxes on the wall and every night he made it through we ticked a box. Once they were all full he got taken to toyworld. Voila, worked like magic.
Now, every couple of years he says "do you remember that time when we had the bit of paper and if I got all the boxes filled up I got to go to Toyworld? Could we do that for... [thing that I'm currently trying to teach him to do]?" Most recently at 10!

I've yet to find any financial accountability in the CLL - e.g number of copies from what titles over what period of time., and funds dispersed to which copyright owners-
One of my (most tedious) jobs is collecting information on copying that we do at university, for CLL purposes.
They certainly have this information, we send it all to them. And if they use it to figure out how much money you are owed, I can't see why they couldn't send it to you.
I would presume most authors would be interested to know what universities etc are using their works in their teaching, which CLL would be an inaccurate way of finding out about.

The third picture in the instructions confuses me.
1. You're not supposed to wave your foot up in the air? OK, fair enough.
2. You're not supposed to put your foot on the standing on place? OK, where do you stand then? Is it a push with hands and run along behind jobbie?Because he has two favourite colours now, that was the minimum coinage. And for the big jobs, he held up all five fingers and said "That's how much."
What the hell are you doing running this "trainee determines the reward level" programme? You'll price every other parent out of the market! Children talk y'know.

That, Kyle, is the funniest thing to have happened here in a long time. Love it.
I've always claimed I had talents, finally they get recognition.
