But I suppose if they're going to die, then down at the doctor's is as a good a place as any.

Probably not very good advertising for the doctor though. I mean, you think at least they'd call an ambulance so they can die in hospital.

I'll be interested to know what he makes of the Patricia Piccinini works. Especially this one.

Patricia Piccinini works give me the heeby greebies. Which I guess is a compliment. Simultaneously incredibly real AND screwed up.

Agreed. The Two Towers and The Return of the King were both terrible.

I think we need to steer this conversation back to just how bad Ottawa have been relative to Anaheim over the past few years. I'm not sure it's been mentioned enough.

Whether or not it'll be any good, those Hunt for Gollum people have produced something very slick for amateurs and volunteer professionals, working with virtually no money.

Most fan-made movies are awful, and LOTR has produced a couple of shockers. This one looks like it might be worth the download. The trailers are very similar to the actual movie's style of shooting, editing, lighting etc.

My favourite one is that in the early days people phoned the operator to ask the same questions that today we ask each other via Google.

Robyn just picked up several coolness points.

As a young lady Nana worked for some time on a switchboard in Manchester. I really must dig out a dictaphone and ask her all about it one weekend.

My Nana, between her first and second husband, worked for... the post office I guess it would have been then?... on the other side of the switchboard. She was connecting lines and phones at some sort of cabinets and so forth.

Which I learnt when I interviewed her with a dictaphone as part of my history degree.

I'm sure there's a reality TV show in this swine flu. I'm picturing a tropical island, two teams of Z-list celebrities, and a lethal virus. The teams battle it out to infect each other, and each week the person with the most points gets the Tamiflu.

    Two words: Ratings. Winner.

Greatly improved if the lethal virus is not actually affected at all by Tamiflu. Ebola would do it.

Hypothetically, if someone cooked the pork, sneezed on it, and then you accidentally stuck it up your nose instead of your mouth, you could catch the flu from eating pork.

Which I think is something that needs to be fully tested on some really stupid TV show.
