Would a farmers' market on Saturdays do?
The bacon sandwiches: A higher form of food. OMG. Go there for breakfast when you arrive, take another one with you for lunch when you leve.

From that Nelson mail article:
But it was Dr Smith's night and he used the opportunity to urge Nelson National supporters to push for the party vote --a win not made by National in Nelson since 1957.
Not surprising given that the party vote didn't come about until 40 years later.

My initial response on the weekend was "you can see legs". I had occasionally wondered if they just had casual wear trousers/shorts (since you only saw their top halves). Perhaps they did and now they can't anymore?
That was my reaction. It was very weird to see legs like they couldn't afford to put a modesty panel on the desk.

Major points for Grant. Not only was he able to throw the damaging quote out in the forum, but he was able to do so after basically being asked to do so by the National Party candidate, having just said that he wouldn't bring them up.
Stephen Franks, less smart than the average bear.

'Real artists' still need to eat.
Food would surely come under instant gratification. No real artist needs that.

How low do you think is reasonable? There are plenty of nousey 12 year olds around.
Society seems to be disinclined to attribute responsibility to young people when it gives them power (voting), but inclined to attribute it to them when it has consequences (adult court).
It would be good to see a bunch of things put more into line with when the government considers you to be an adult. Driving, treated as an adult before courts, voting, contracts, marriage, independence from parents, various benefits, right to adult minimum wage etc.
I don't necessarily think that all things should be done at one age, but a law that applied some consistency (and maybe considered scientific evidence about development, decision-making, responsibility) would be a good start. It'd also make it harder to argue "10 year olds should be tried as adults!" and so forth.

I'd be tempted to start with a technical question just to see if they have any idea of what they're talking about.

Had National got into Government it would have sent troops to Iraq and on a pro-rata basis, considering 4000 US troops were killed, there would be 60 body bags coming home, she said.
Clark did look like she had her pants around her ankles on the TV news last night.
"umm, yup. I took the total population of the USA, and the population of NZ, and took a similar proportion of their casualties..."
Yup, so scare-mongering by pulling a random big figure out of the air then. TV news rather sensibly pointed out that Australia had way more troops in Iraq than NZ ever would have had, and they lost one solider.

Cheers for those tips. I'll head to a couple of bike shops and see when the sale signs come up.
