Maybe there is a chance for Justin Marshall after all?
I think if there is one halfback that is probably considered as much a dick at NZRU HQ, it's probably Justin Marshall. That whole "I want to come back to NZ and contribute to NZ rugby after buggering off for a few years, but they won't sign me up to a contact" probably didn't go down well.

I do find it ironic that a fair chunk of the ways that SPARC tries to reach the un-exercising, is via media that aren't about exercising - computers, TV adverts etc. The message seems to be "hey you, don't watch this, bugger off outside".
From a distance it seems about as logical as using the 5 million to buy about 10,000 Wii, to be given out to the more obese children.

Making it "stop" is real easy, all you have to do is buy out Maria Sharapova's contracts with Tiffany, Sony-Ericsson, TAG-Heuer, Parlux, Land-rover, Colgate that like to portray her as appealingly good looking.
Yes, it's advertising that leads to men being gimps about sportswomen. It's never anything to do with the men themselves. "Led astray by Colgate I was, couldn't help myself, your honour."

Ooh good; I was hoping we could get round to somehow making Henry the Dick of the Week.
Where the All Black management have strayed into dangerous territory is that you can’t help but get the feeling he’d have been dealt with more harshly if there Leonard was fit.
I thought that his punishment was decided by Shand - the manager, and a NZRU person. Henry wasn't in the room? Of course, it's entirely possible that he influenced it from outside the room.
I've seen at least one quote along the lines of "oh, Justin's a great friend of mine, and he really respects women, so of course we all know he was just joking".
Sadly from a couple of the women that he talked about, though from memory the ones that he talked up, not down.
Shame they didn't all respond by saying "I would have slept with Gimelstob, but I understand his penis and his brain are both very small".

Kyle - you've forgotten that there are two senators.
Oh sorry yes, and the terms don't match up you're correct. Ignore my timetable then.

And despite the lack of coffee, thanks to Russell for remembering us down here. Free Monteiths!

Reports?
I'm sorry, I suspect your complimentary coffee didn't arrive. I did put through the order ...
A vote was had, and we decided that we didn't like you anymore, due to the lack of coffee. I spoke out in your defence, but only because my name was pulled out of the hat and I won the CD! Sweet.
Actually it was the quintessential Dunedin experience. Six people meet up and discover that they all know the same people. We drunk beer to cope with the trauma and gossiped about PA, the elections, what we've all done with our lives to that point.
Good fun, no doubt repeated soon. Thanks to Grant for making it happen.

That's three people to elect: President, Senator, Congress critter. Drop that back a layer, and it's another three. Entirely manageable with paper and hand counting.
It's only every 12 years that you'll elect all three of president, senator, congress in one polling booth. Congress are every two years, president every four years, senator every six years (god knows why there isn't more consistency, but there isn't).
So a 12 year electoral cycle looks like this:
2 Congress
4 Congress, President
6 Congress, Senate
8 Congress, President
10 Congress
12 Congress, Senate, PresidentI know they elector Governors at the same time as Federal positions, I presume state senates and congresses as well, so theoretically you could be ticking 6 different positions, ignoring the dog catchers, building supervisors, etc etc.

Seriously, what are people going to do with themselves next January when that source of cheap shots is gone?
I think we're all having a really big party.
Key has issues Paul, but I think he's several stages up the talent ladder from Bush.

I'm sure there will be plenty of liberal drinking in the PAS meet-up in Dunedin this even as well.
Y'know, if it wasn't for this post, and iCal, I suspect I would have forgotten.
Umm, any lack of organisation tonight I blame Grant. For convenience sake.
