Isn't that what all those people with "investment properties" are trying to do?
Yachts down inflate in value like a house does. They require tremendous maintenance to increase their value because everything on a yacht costs 2 - 10 times as much as it would on land.
Which would be fine, if you were renting it out at great cost to rich people. These guys aren't, they're having expensive parties on it most of the time.

Kyle, that's not true at all. You can make money renting out yachts. Just as Hertz makes plenty of money buying brand new sedan cars as investments.
I don't think Hertz will call their cars investments, in the same way that you'd call putting money in a bank an investment.
Yes, you can make money off an asset by renting it out, that's stretching 'investment' a long way.

Buying a yacht as an investment is just a risky venture.
Buying a yacht as an investment is just silly. Yachts are money sinks. You buy them because you love what they give you, and don't mind the thousands of dollars they cost to keep 'ship-shape'.
Buying a brand new yacht as an investment makes about as much sense as buying a brand new sedan car as an investment.

Any recommendations for units under $1500 much appreciated...
A cheaper addiction?

But Rodney has a rather different view of the terms of reference:
Jeanette Fitzsimons owned Rodney on Morning Report this morning when she pointed out that he hadn't bothered to attend most of the select committee hearings on ETS.

That's how you know about it. It's not up to journalists to critique the government - that's the role of the opposition. Journalists are then meant to report both the government and opposition viewpoints and if you read the story I've linked to you'll see that's exactly what's happened.
I'd be in favour of journalists running a healthy critique over everything. Otherwise no one's going to raise an issue when both sides of the house agree on it.

He neglected not to murder her. Classic case.
I see future work for you in the American legal system sir.

Or before you link, ask yourself 'Should I be creating traffic for the newspaper that thinks Garth George's opinion is worth publishing?' The herald sales your eyeballs to its advertisers, every view on its site is worth money to it.
I'd hope that a lot of bloggers would find it bad etiquette to quote from an online source, and not link to it. And, prevents your readers from seeing the whole article in context.

And he's been gone for a generation, so when are we getting over that?
I think Russell's point was not to get over it or not, but to point out that the author of the article managed to stretch back a whole 24 years, but apparently had no memory of 25 years ago.

But if your relatives die in a car that failed from not just poor, but negligent design... you cant sue Ford or whoever for murder.... but they can be found responsible for "wrongful death".
But that's negligence. I can see that being different from murder.
It's not like he was found liable in a civil court for being negligent and stabbing her with a knife.
He either murdered her, or he didn't. If he didn't mean to kill her, maybe it's manslaughter. 'Wrongful death'? Sounds like he was a surgeon operating on her and made a mistake.
In the end it may make 'legal sense', but it doesn't make common sense. There are some instances where that should be supported/allowed, I just can't see it in this case.
