It only really covered the combat wing if you read through it. The Mb339 was never considered as a keep option apart from a reference in option 3, which was never costed.
The The Defence Industry Committee of New Zealand has done further work on all aspects of the NZ defence force and its capabilities. I presume that some of their findings and recommendations could be made public if they're not already. Nicky Hager probably has copies :)

And yet ... Margaret Pope, who wrote the speech (but not, obviously, its brilliant extemporising), was there on the night it was delivered, and subsequently lived with David Lange till he died, was totally okay with it, and thought that Lange would have been too.
I'm tempted to say it's their speech, and they can do what they want with it. If they're happy for a beer company to use it, well, up to them I guess.
What it says about the beer company, who are suddenly nationalistic beyond their association with the All Blacks in a whole left-wing way, well that's another angle.

Since there is no remotely realistic threat to our home islands either, the A-4 attack jets we had had no conceivable combat application.
Also, anyone better armed than Qantas would knock them out of the sky no problem.
