Oh, and more Aasif Mandvi should be mandatory.
Stephen Jones in Wasilla Alaska last night was great. He interviewed the current town mayor ("yes, being Mayor of this town prepares you for being VP of the USA"). He then asked her what she actually did. She listed all the things she didn't control (fire department, education etc), and came up with two things that she did do - a Tuesday staff meeting, and signing all the town's cheques on Thursday.
Comedy so good, you'd be very happy if it wasn't running rampant all over the elections of a major world player.

Like the online version of a gang?
I guess so. Maybe he has trouble meeting people online (which really is sinking low), so he just built his own gang.

No, Kyle, Labour should "put it out there" because we deserve to know whether it wins votes or not. Especially when said Labour Party is busy accusing others of holding back a 'secret agenda' from voters, don't you think?
Well, if Labour don't release some further details before the election, then yes, that's a problem.
But that's completely different than what National was accused of which was saying one thing in public and another in private - essentially lying to the electorate.

Thank you for the opening, Emma.
Simon Pegg as Scotty! Worth seeing just for that.
Looks appropriately awful though. Hullo bad 1960s Star Trek uniforms :)

can you use the phrase the crown to refer to american government?
I said "America is a republic, and you can use that word in much the same over there", as in, you can use the word 'Republic' in place of 'the state' in America.

It is for this guy
I feel the need for video of the guy playing to see how its possible to play 36 different characters in a game at once.
I thought the thing in WOW was to make friends with other players and then all go around beating things up together?

Yes, indeed. And Alan Rickman.
And while we're at it (men with luv-er-ly voices, that is), Jeremy Irons.
And now we're heading to a list of Die Hard bad guys.

Meanwhile, dumbest campaign commentary of the day from John Armstrong on the front page this morning
Way to miss the money quote Craig, and wreck the context.
But there is no point in preparing a package if it is never going to see the light of day.
The party will therefore probably foreshadow as much of its contents as possible before election day.
Armstrong was saying that, for purposes of winning votes, Labour should put it out there.

Then realised it was the guy who's idea of "a campaign" is a Facebook group - seriously, how is 23 (random number pulled out of my arse) people blethering and wittering (and probably twittering - yes, I'm down with the kids) in Facebook a CAMPAIGN?
It was on stuff's front page as well. I clicked on it thinking it might be a real campaign, but no. I think the number of people was 500 or something, but unless it's a million, I fail to see how it is news.

yes, that's where they originated from true, but we have or are moving away from that.
It's not a historical reference to an ancient system. Copyright laws were written by a modern parliament in NZ, the head of state had no input into them. Jon's original quote was:
Copyright is like a contract between the artist and the entity that enforces copyright...being "the Crown".
That's the situation now for copyright laws, and all other laws - they're enforced by the crown, through government agents such as police, courts etc.
There's a reason why the Governor General opens parliament, and why the PM has to indicate to them that they can form a government. If you want a different example, America is a republic, and you can use that word in much the same over there.
