IMHO, you shouldn't even be allowed on the plane with a BMI of 35 unless you buy two or three seats.
There's a bandwagon I'm staying away from.
However, I do wonder if any airlines do, or ever will, change their baggage allowance to be 'total weight you bring onto the plane', including yourself and your baggage added together. Which would make sense from a fuel usage point of view, if not a marketing, looking like idiots point of view.
I really just want to see everyone dash to the toilet to lighten the load before checking themselves in.

So what is the logic in using the magic three number, aside from the baseball metaphor? Was there analysis done as to the average number of serious crimes/other committed? Perhaps we should consider who the target of this law is, the average numbers of crimes they commit etc, then determine if three offences is appropriate.
That's what annoys me.
I don't particularly mind harsher sentences on repeat offenders for serious crimes, though I don't think it'll solve anything, it'll just put the prisoner in jail longer, which I guess achieves one thing.
However I'd much rather see judges empowered to use the ranges currently available more, and the nature of the offender be more considered.
Legal systems are very complex things, but at their heart they're designed to deal with people and their actions and their impacts upon society. I'd like that considered more than the magic number 3, and glib saying "three strikes and you're out [in surely?]".

And I wonder what the Czechs or Slovaks would be raising their glasses with?
Hands on the end of arms?

So Aaron Neich (video at the link) will be the first male cheerleader, gay or otherwise, for the Panthers, and he's expecting some flack.
He seems to have ripped the armholes for his singlets a little when putting it on.
I look like this.
Will you be a cocktail waiter at Webstock too?

I suspect our 'failure' to take greater advantage of the drop goal arises from a few things.
1. 'We' think it's a bit 'wussy' relative to scoring a try.
2. Certainly at the All Blacks level, a significant proportion of our games we finish well ahead, so in a lot of games it's never considered. And even at the provincial level, a lot of games are fairly one-sided.
3. The nature of the way rugby happens, there are penalties regularly throughout the game. So if you spend enough time near the other team's line, you're likely to get a penalty (notable exceptions ie RWC).Interesting that it's used more in rugby league when it's worth both less in actual terms, and relative to all the other point scoring methods.

Interesting blog post Mark. Hope you can bring the dark and murky to light there.

The annoying thing is that the stimulus package is far from perfect -- my belief is that "stimulus" is like fucking. It don't matter how big it is, if it's being shoved in all the wrong places.
No you're doing it wrong. Stimulus isn't _like_ fucking. It's the thing you're supposed to do _before_ fucking.
Tell your partner there's no need to thank me, public service.

It's certainly massively different from the Emery tagger incident, and comparison between the two doesn't bring anything useful to the surface, to my mind.

Deciding to bat second in Sydney and then first in Adelaide might not have helped either, although it's easy to say in hindsight.
There's also a mantra going around that NZ chases well, and people seem to think that this means that they should always chase. Clearly that's not the case, and I'd be concerned if they made that decision automatically without consideration for the weather, teams, pitch, etc etc.
Apart from anything else, if you were only good at chasing, every time you lose the toss you'd be screwed.

The problem is education and abuse of the process by, for example, the big 4 music labels and their joint entity the RIAA who have destroyed a generation's trust in process instead of embracing change and finding new ways to work with their customers.
I'm entertained that you didn't mention the wee problem of all these people around the world doing illegal copying and not paying money for it. What Russell said about the two sides talking past each other really is about half of this thread.
