Guests are meant to engage with the programme, not just use it as a megaphone
I assume the producers consciously chose a format where Bomber rants for a couple of minutes and then the "balanced" panel of Farrar, Mathew Hooton and Michelle Boag tut quietly and discuss just how great John Key really is.
I do not believe the government’s financing of Mediaworks’ frequency licences was the motivation for the programme
Of course it isn't as blatant as that. I'd be surprised to find a smoking gun email setting out terms. But there's a general consideration that in return for Mediaworks running radio stations that promote a right-wing agenda, they'll get favourable treatment on things like license fees. Same with RNZ - management know which side their bread's buttered.
(Labour could have done the same in their day, but didn't. Too polite. Class war, but only one side is fighting).

Democracy is supposed to provide that. Which is why Key & Brownlee got rid of it.
I don't understand how people are so dumb as to tolerate this until it hits them right in the face. Look at the Taurangans - staunch Tories, against government intervention in their McMansion and 4WD lifestyle - until an unregulated ship manned by unskilled non-union workers slams into a reef and dumps oil all over their beach.
Etc.

heard them say that accomodation was fully booked in Wellington before the last weekend
Fully booked != Profit bonanza. A hotel that isn't going bust needs to have 70-80% occupancy anyway. So a few nights booked out might mean a 30% or so revenue uplift for those nights - before price gouging of course. But that's destined to fail as people aren't dumb enough or rich enough to pay hundreds of dollars for a $60 room, or thousands for a $250 one.
And numerous companies and departments have travel bans in place - which is of course stopping people doing productive work, as well as cutting hotel revenues.

it's now evident that Rugby World Cup 2011 is not delivering the anticipated hospitality bonanza
No shit.
Still, at least NZ didn't get booted out by Argentina. That would have required an invasion of the Falklands. How much is a secondhand aircraft carrier again?

Seems to me that demolishers have interesting clauses in their contracts:
- employee is entitled to steal anything they can carry
- employer is not to remove any loot the employee might have their eye onDo other jobs have such terms and conditions? Apart from being a National Party politician?

I've been trying to write an ode, inspired by this one. But I just can't get a rhyme for "one-button mouse". Can anyone help?
I do have the lines:

Hard News: The Politics of Absence, in reply to
There are parties which have transparent list ranking processes and active memberships, and parties that don’t. It’s interesting that the only new party that hasn’t imploded is in the former category.
If people choose to vote for parties that have undemocratic selection mechanisms, then it's up to them – nobody forces them to. It’s like student elections – not voting communicates a willingness to go with whatever those that do vote want.

Maybe the Greens need to engage more with stupid people, or risk their support being limited by the 20% of reasonably smart individuals in the country.
Perhaps they could try reserving every fourth list spot for a demonstrably ignorant person - talk radio presenters maybe?

Yahoo News works a little differently
It’s guaranteed not to invade anyone’s privacy, because there’s nothing on any Yahoo site worth accessing. Unless you’re a connoisseur of popup ads for scareware and dating scams.
