Is "commoner" the posh word for "chav"?

I just hope she learns from her mother in law's example. Don't go driving through tunnels at 150kph with a driver who's had nearly as much coke as you have.

@Raymond My UK paper driving license remains valid until my 70th birthday. If I renewed it, they'd give me one with a photo valid 10 years, so I'm not renewing it.

I think it's rather more racist the way political parties decide they need a visible ethnic minority candidate for certain seats and adopt the first chancer that puts themselves forward. The assumption being that said minority group will vote for anyone from the same general area irrespective of that candidates incompetence, bigotry or criminality. (or in the case of Field, all three)

Maybe MPs should just be given a lump sum to spend on travel, constituency expenses, campaigning, or hookers and blow as they and their party see fit. If they wanted to be reelected, they might want to spend it wisely and produce accounts, but at the end of the day, it's between member, party and electorate.

Also, doesn't work well with Android Opera. Guess I should be thankful it doesn't just display an Apple order form...

What's with the font? It seems to have stripes of bold, on FF3.6.12.
Is that the way the cool kids roll nowadays....

Yeah, must be great being British, you have not just one Tory party to vote for, not two, but three!

It is not unfair that the people who gave their party vote to the ACT party are represented by a group of MPs proportionate to the size of their vote.
An argument is that influence in parliament is not proportionate to the number of elected MPs.
If ACT (or UF, or NZF in the last government) were small factions of National Party backbenchers, they would have minimal influence. They wouldn't get ministerial jobs or policy asks. That's why they founded their parties - because they felt sidelined in larger groups.
