So a choice of:
- John Banks (National/ACT)
- Alex Swney (ACT
- Richard Simpson (Action Hobson, so not exactly National, but not really anywhere near the left).Still, maybe simon g is right, there'll be a backlash and John Minto will get elected mayor. In which case expect National to pass under urgency a measure making the mayor of Auckland a government appointment.

The whole STV thing works by building a bandwagon, and of course the media will swing strongly behind Banks. The choice will probably come down to Banks or a slightly less obnoxious National supporter, and Banks will probably win it. I'm glad I don't live in Auckland.

Here on waiheke Island we have inorganic rubbish every week assembled at the Ostend market and sell it for cash.
There's a large red shed in many larger NZ suburbs where they do the same.

Of course, the DPF fanclub would probably want to put Sir Allen Stanford in charge of Kiwibank. And elevate him to Baron, maybe.

I've got a harder question:
Who owns the universities?
Who chooses the vice-chancellor? -
I so prefer the way they serve booze at many UK festivals. The Workers Beer Company, a trade union based co-op, provide quality beer and excellent service. And (at least some years ago; Blair/Brown may have stuffed this up) you could wander anywhere with your pint.
I think the "dragnet" approach to underage drinking just displaces the problem. Kids still drink outside or smuggle booze in and adults can't get a beer without multiple lines.

The station is about 10 minutes from the back gate of Mt Smart, as opposed to the Beasley Ave route that google uses.
Also, I just find it amusing that so many sports supporters are corpulent sofa dwellers. (UK soccer is the worst for this!)

quite a walk from the stadium
And not to labour the point, but people will go and watch an 80 minute rugby game, but 5 minutes walk to the car is quite enough exercise, thank you?

Can we build things on time, to budget?
Project West Wind is due to deliver first electricity this month

Mt Smart is only 10 minutes walk from Penrose Station - haven't you people got legs?
(ISTR that the trains stop before the end of BDO, though. Which is nothing to do with the line?)
