That was Joyce's aim in changing regional transport authority arrangements to force more explicit obedience to the Goverment Policy Statement (GPS) which shifts funding priority from things like cycleways and potholes to building new highways.
Naturally you heard all about that at the time. Transparency only works when the rest of the political system is functioning properly.

You only get to watch what is made and screened, though. The appearance of direct political influence in that is enough to constitute a conflict of interest that would see most moral people resign - or the organisation expel them otherwise.

I'd like to think that monosyllabic answers used at question time would be censured by the Speaker, or at least let it be known that Gerry is laughing in all our democratic faces.
It is at least "answering" the question, unlike last term where you'll recall Brownlee got away with refusing to do so.
And the political consequences rely on a functioning opposition and media. Any time is good..
