I can easily see it backfiring on those behind the control stick. Also, wouldn’t it attract the attention of Defence early warning systems, unlike in 1981?
Given the foreign heads of state, etc, in attendance, I can imagine any such flights meeting surface-to-air missiles from the accompanying imported defence forces.
It'd be like someone trying to flourbomb the 1999 APEC conference, the only time I've seen silent black helicopters over our suburbs. Manning wasn't exaggerating in that article. They don't muck around.
More to the point, any violent protest against a national religion will not gain public sympathy.

Winning any international tournament against stiff opposition is highly unlikely, even for the favorite.
