Uh, the biggest shift is towards multiple ethnic identities so the short answer is yes. Tick as many options as you like.
But New Zealander is a nationality - and so it belongs to all of us, not one group who tend to claim it. Pakeha on the other hand is an ethnicity born in this place.

Thanks for that - fits well with other stuff I've seen, though others have addressed better what Pakeha asserting "New Zealander" as a default for themselves does for other groups.
Having some sort of explicit 2-component options makes sense to me - like New Zealand Tongan or Chinese New Zealander. Mostly I wish people would get over the myth that "Pakeha" is some sort of swear word.

One of my faves - trying to explain why "New Zealander" is not an ethnicity. In 140-character bites.

I do hope he stands for the Auckland Mayoralty
Gee thanks - not like we have enough problems already. Swap you for Rodney Hide?

Architect Pip Cheshire expresses hope that the new Council is an opportunity for strengthened urban design in the city's planning and consenting. He points out that the answer lies more with Council staff than its elected members.
Unfortunately for him, the urban design function was one of the early casualties of the transition process. The new Council structure has no senior manager or team in a position to ensure that an expert urban design perspective is able to contend on an equal footing with say transport or commercial revenue advocates. By the time a decision is approved by senior managers or elected members, the battle is lost. The CCO structure makes that even more likely in crucial areas like our potentially world-leading downtown waterfront.

something that depends on whether you agree or not with what they have to say
For me it's more *how* they say it - can handle different ideas, though that doesn't mean I'll go easy on poorly-thought-out ones either.

I enjoy articulate people. Smug wankers, not so much.

Can't remember being told about that, but I know Boiski came into Tim's life already accustomed to 3 legs. Maybe they tried one and he didn't like it? Died since this film was made.
