    "attention-seeking slut" hate mail

As I say, women dress for women - and that's who mostly manages the attention economy, the 'community standards' of acceptable dress and behaviour such as they are.

I suppose you could say the clerics are shouldering their part of that particular burden. Most of us blokes just spectate from the sidelines (and to think, it's been privileged in much feminist theory as more active).

    Now about that re-run..

    What, your mind? :))

Maybe it's just Mr Smooth (shudder). Didn't realise you were referencing this recent news.

Rachel Hunter has returned to Auckland with her daughter for a whirlwind visit. The Kiwi supermodel is here with Renee Stewart as part of a Pantene haircare promotion. The pair will star in a television commercial together reprising Hunter's infamous catchphrase, "It won't happen overnight, but it will happen".

there is some suggestion there that it's a merkin.

That'd be Amerkins for you, pr0nwashed into thinking female body hair is unnatural (and therefore ungodly no doubt)

  • Legal Beagle: Bad Law,

Would just be too much for talkback radio land, I guess. So we're stuck indefinitely

Sadly, a lot of folk dying of old age may be the answer

  • Hard News: Climate science and the media,

proving a negative is a logical conundrum

But it's mainly the lack of a suitable control that makes the whole climate thing tricky scientifically. I'd rather not get it wrong for the sake of feeling temporary smug warmth like someone who's just pissed their pants.

That tends towards taking the overwhelming consensus of the world's climate experts seriously. Unfortunately the same does not apply to demented denialist ravings when ignoring them has such minor consequences.

  • Southerly: The Problem With Religion,

I see very little mention of God's causal influence on the weather report

Probly not such a winning sales pitch for the church, that one

  • Up Front: Time for an Intervention,

Ta for the backgrounder. I understand the action is mainly being driven by big corporate farmers. We know that if they bend the rules (and getting the government to sack a neighbouring regional Council and trashing the WCO system is success in anyone's language) then it puts pressure on everyone else to race to the bottom, environmentally speaking. White gold in them dun hills.

Seems that the famers seeking water believe that they have every right to farm in what they describe as a desert, that without them the land would somehow be worse off - and that despite failure everywhere else it is somehow possible to "balance" their greed with the sustainability of the environment that feeds the area's more future-oriented tourism industry, let alone the most basic viability of the land they profess to love. Dangerous plonkers.
