They can't lose.
Wrong - it's worth billions. There's stuff-all point trying to market Auckland as a world-class city for visitors and businesses (one of the justifications for this whole supercity palaver) if they can't be arsed paying for professional branding advice up-front. More cheap know-nothing incompetence from the top. Where do they find these clowns?
Seen Melbourne's logo lately? That's the competition.

Ecan governance at issue, 8 months out from elections
What elections? - Idiot/Savant reports that the govt will just cancel them. Polluting farmers for the win.
Under the guise of fixing the dysfunctional regional council, they want it simply replaced by a special commission appointed by the Minister, with elections to follow in 2013. In other words, for an entire local government term, the people of Canterbury will be denied any say in about who sits on their regional council. Worse, when democracy is restored, the council's most important responsibility - water - will be taken away from them, given instead to a special-purpose commission. Its members will be - you guessed it - appointed by the Minister, accountable to Wellington, not Canterbury. So we have Fiji on the Rakaia. Lovely.

I am currently researching the second 25 years of television in New Zealand (1985-2010)
Marvellous - is that following on from Robert Boyd-Bell's one?

nations with little or no natural resources have wised up and harnessed their brainpower. Right now in NZ our movers and shakers seem bent on the exact opposite.
Tells you all you need to know about their withered intellect and unconfident emptiness of spirit.
