How about a giant Buzzy Bee? The alert would savour the verbal connection with Wellington's beehive.
Better still, how about a giant statue of Ed Hillary in his bee-keeping days, with smoke-maker in hand..

in real terms we wouldn't catch up at all
Depends which "we" they're tinking of - those who can already afford to buy their own health, education and so on?

I love actual facts.
Me too. I'd therefore advise against reading the foolish "tax is theft" blustering on that Kiwibog thread.

In some circles, a bestseller to rival Why cats paint

Would that small ideologically -blinded group include the nice Dr Brash ?
He's one of the dudes handing out blindfolds

Brilliant work, Keith. Look forward to an update when the nex tax system is announced in the May Budget.
Would also be interesting to see the same treatment from the perspective of a small business owner employing staff, including all those costs of doing business that we have so few of compared with other nations. More complex, I know.

It is more important to have 1) a recommendation from I reader I trust 2) positive experience of the author 3) PAS people making me feel stupid if I haven't read it.
About The Cat in the Hat, well known speculative work..

masculine and feminine is gender
Actually, that is less confusable than "man" or "woman", given common usage.
So what I wrote above would say:
Females who do not have babies are not therefore males. However, it does affect their relationship with the socially-negotiated feminine role.

So my biologically male cat should actually be referred to as a "man"?
"Dude" will do, if you're talking about Colin

Still confusing sex with gender here.
Sex = male, female = biological.
Gender = man, woman = social.Females who do not have babies are not therefore males. However, it does affect their relationship with the socially negotiated role of 'woman'. That has changed a lot over the decades, especially with women allowed to venture further than the kitchen and nursery now, but it's still fraught.
It's one of the things I enjoy about Mad Men, watching how much some things have changed and how little others have.
