Moving it to the left rather than right side might be interesting - the arrow could even point upwards at the name of the person you're replying to

This wee detail struck me:
A male colleague who is always immaculately dressed and who speaks like a BBC newsreader had clearly been so frightened that he had wet himself.
For some inexplicable reason it was this sight that made me realise the enormity of what we had experienced.
The naked desperation and fear we all felt was manifest on his pants.

We could all chip in and organise out-of-town respite for our PA friends from Chch, when they're each ready for a break from it. Perhaps Russell or someone can coordinate?

For all of us we don't know who we know have gone but hiding the numbers for bureaucracy's sake seems very strange to me. There has to be a morgue being set up somewhere so the number of bodies being placed there is a number worth knowing.
The *names* are more important than numbers ever will be.
Counting is just trivial while there are still so many people alive in need of rescue and dead in need of their loved ones knowing. I support authorities putting all their efforts there rather than fuelling pointless armchair speculation.
more importantly, there are the living to find.
You're more concerned with the person still shouting, and how to get to them.

He tweeted earlier on that they'd lost visiting high-ranker Richard Armitage - found him later, thankfully. All those international players right in the middle of it must be adding some pressure for the government to perform well.

They totally green-screened him into a street in the CBD with rescue operations playing behind him. Playing a montage behind him is fine, but why pretend that he's somewhere he isn't ?
