I've just finished up two days of a 'symposium' where the Local Boards got together to listen to wonderful speakers, and to start to think about our Local Board Plans.

TV journo Ali Ikram mistaken for pervert at local pool (wife blames dodgy moustache).
Suddenly, a woman loudly inquired of a nearby lifeguard whether there was a 'time limit' on parents staying in the pool after one of their children had got out.
"No," replied the lifeguard.
The woman, clearly brassed off about this laxity, then proceeded to tell her child very loudly that she felt "uncomfortable" about being in the pool at that moment, and other loud complaints of that nature.
The grandstanding was only interrupted by the arrival of my two-year-old daughter at the pool - which is only metres from the main pool - and Ali resuming his role as active 'parent' again.
Telling me this story later, my husband was clearly annoyed - and hurt - by the woman's inference.

I am confused and late to the show but people saying they've been feminists longer so they know better?
Better, feminism is only about things that traditionally men have rated as important - you know, politics, economics, none of that girly "lifestyle" stuff that actually fills more of most people's lives.

I HATE all that shit. It destroys incredibly talented valuable people. I drove myself into depression fighting against sexist pricks here, admittedly not just fighting over the sexism, but it was a part. But I still don't call myself a feminist.
