  • Field Theory: The Wonder Years,

Good to see the <insert current Aussie enfant terrible> is a wanker chant hasn’t evolved with age.

I miss the sound of cans rhythmically banging on advertising hoardings though. Can we get an iPhone ap for that?

  • Field Theory: The Wonder Years,

If this involves lying around on the grass, drinking beers, then I fully support this lifestyle choice.

We have a list. It has those things on it. If anyone can help fill in the gap between them and "...PROFIT!" that would be handy.

  • Field Theory: The Wonder Years,

There's an interview on Cricinfo somewhere with Jeremy Coney where they ask him what captaining Hadlee was like, and he's... not entirely positive.

There is some seriously bad hair in the Aussie team. (cough Bollinger cough).

And Harris. This current crop is starting to make Andrew Symonds look attractive. (True story: I couldn't remember his name, so I googled 'cricket aussie boofhead', and he was the top two hits.)

Speaking of Harris, you know they retire jersey numbers of great players? Can we do the same thing with surnames? Because this is just bloody confusing.

  • Field Theory: The Wonder Years,

The point at which I thought we'd lost it, to be honest, was when I heard Vettori wasn't playing. How were we ever going to cope without Mr Everything? And then we broke Big Jake.

So I gotta say, in addition to all the 'yay Styris', Oz were about twenty runs short of where they should have been, given our patchy bowling line-up.

Also, I'd love vision of Styris's mouth from that confrontation, because I'd love to know what he said that provoked that big 'F-word' from Johnson.

That was the "Why are Christchurch women dying" cover? Haven't read the article yet, but I presume it shows no proof in terms of statistical evidence that Christchurch women are more at risk of murder than any other women in New Zealand, but merely conflates a series of recent events into a sensationalist story?

I can't actually bring myself to read it. I don't need extra sources of rage this week. But it's not just the headline, it's the fact that it sits next to a shiny red stiletto. Why the shoe? It's an obviously loaded, and completely unnecessary, image.

Also, "Why are so Many Christchurch Women Brutally Murdered?". My daughter read it and laughed, she thought it must be a joke.

but if you want full marks you're just gonna have to measure that sucker

Okay, so now I really need to know, are we including the kitten's tail in the length of the kitten?

1/ It'd cause much the same reaction from me as this week's Listener cover did, except I'm not sure how you rip the cover off RNZ. Fortunately, it seems people are planning to show me.

2/ "Don't you know who I am?!" Ah, feck I love doing that.

3/ It would glisten with the tears of ophaned baby kiwi.

4/ He means he's going to Maui, and if anyone else is going his way he'd appreciate a ride. Give the man a break, he needs to keep popping off and topping up his supply of "relaxed".

5/ Pauline Hansen is dropping by for a holiday before joining the BNP, apparently.

A lion cub or something like that, maybe, but a kitten?

I attempted to empirically determine this just now, but the kitten in our courtyard would not hold still for my measuring tape.

  • Up Front: Do My Homework For Me,

Have any of these cases occurred in New Zealand? I think not.

No, they haven't, but there's nothing to stop them happening here. We couldn't link to some of the art here (for 'it's not actually that, it's this' purposes) because that would leave us open to prosecution. Our laws are actually tighter and more conservative than those in the states, just usually more liberally enforced and interpreted. We're one of very few countries that actually ban lolicon, because in most countries the laws, excluding the 'promoting' clause, don't allow it.

The 'it's OK because it's hentai' defence is especially lame. If it depicts children in sexual activity, it is objectionable, regardless of how cool the genre might be.

Paul, I find that kind of offensive. I was responded to icehawk's point, which you disagreed with in your first point. Where did I say anything even remotely like "lolicon is cool"? If people could stick to criticising stuff I've actually said instead of just making shit up (and that goes for implying I'm opposed to censorship too - I'm opposed to the filter and I've given my reasons), I'd appreciate it.
